Let’s draw a tiger today!
This photo source was my inspiration
I like the way the face is cropped, I feel like it heightens the drama
Pick a start point when you start your drawing
and then go on to add the rest of the elements
I began by sketching the focal point,* the eye
*The focal point is where there is the biggest contrast between light and dark,
It’s this contrast that draws in your eye
After establishing the eye, I proceeded to draw in the rest of the features
I use an eraser a lot as I’m trying to get the composition correct
When the pencil sketch was finished,
I went over the lines with a 1.0 tip brush marker
I erased the pencil and filled in the black areas
Several shades of yellow were used for the eye
Dark orange and ochre for the nose and mouth
I urge you to make color charts for every type of media you use,
markers, watercolor, watercolor pens, colored pencils, pens,
and refer to them
Even if your set came with a printed color chart, it won’t be as accurate as making your own
You can get laminating sheets at the craft store to protect the charts
I use mine all the time, such a time saver!
Now lets color him!
I used shades of brown, gold, and orange
Now he’s ready for some fuzzy details with a fine liner pen
“Eye of the Tiger” 4′ x 6″ marker and ink, on mixed media paper
Have some art fun and
Be Fearless!
