Party Panache, Caramelized Onion Dip with Maple Bacon

Have you ever had an onion dip made with real caramelized onions?

Let me tell you, it’s a game changer!

And, more good news,

this dip is made with simple ingredients

that you probably have on hand~

I always have sweet onions, bacon,

mayonnaise and sour cream in my fridge,

and often celery, cucumber and carrots

Even though caramelizing onions does take a while,

it’s easy to get them going while you’re doing other things,

all they need is an occasional stir…

Cook them over medium low heat with olive oil and butter

until they magically transform from white to golden brown

Drain them well by tilting the pan

and pressing them against one side

and letting the grease drain and puddle on the other side

You can also cook them in your slow cooker here

and store them in the fridge until you need them

Mix the mayo and sour cream,

season with salt, pepper and garlic powder,

and then add the onions

Mix in crispy bacon

Serve it with sturdy potato chips and crisp vegetables

Garnish with bacon crumbles or green onions

You can stir in crumbled blue cheese and you will have

a Red, White & Blue Dip for the 4th of July!

A simple party dip that everyone will love!
