Party Panache, Caramelized Onion Dip with Maple Bacon

Have you ever had an onion dip made with real caramelized onions?
Let me tell you, it’s a game changer!
And, more good news,
this dip is made with simple ingredients
that you probably have on hand~
I always have sweet onions, bacon,
mayonnaise and sour cream in my fridge,
and often celery, cucumber and carrots

Even though caramelizing onions does take a while,
it’s easy to get them going while you’re doing other things,
all they need is an occasional stir…
Cook them over medium low heat with olive oil and butter
until they magically transform from white to golden brown

Drain them well by tilting the pan
and pressing them against one side
and letting the grease drain and puddle on the other side

You can also cook them in your slow cooker here
and store them in the fridge until you need them
Mix the mayo and sour cream,
season with salt, pepper and garlic powder,
and then add the onions

Mix in crispy bacon
Serve it with sturdy potato chips and crisp vegetables
Garnish with bacon crumbles or green onions

You can stir in crumbled blue cheese and you will have
a Red, White & Blue Dip for the 4th of July!
A simple party dip that everyone will love!

Thanks Pam, so simple but sooo good!
That sounds really good!
Taking time to caramelize the onions really makes a difference!
Mmmm indeed!! Thanks for the tips!
This looks fabulous! We’re hoping to have some guests this year at the lake and this would be perfect. Or, a good thing to take to a party. Yum! (The only problem with this is not eating the caramelized onions before they get in the dip!)
So easy and sooo good!
Honestly, I think I could eat this for breakfast! I’m sure after eating this no other recipe will do. LOL, I have to agree with Jeanie, caramelized onions are wonderful!
Well, it’s good but I don’t know about breakfast 😂
You have me at the maple bacon! The dip looks particularly creamy and I bet it’s full of flavours and your kitchen smelled wonderful while you caramelizing the onions.
Thank you Angie, you’re right, the kitchen smelled amazing!
I’m going to have to try that! I make lots of onion dip during football season but have always used the Lipton packets. I’m sure this will be amazing! Thanks for sharing with us Jenna. 🙂
It’s a little more trouble but oh so worth it!
Yum, yes please! I’m always looking for new dips to try:@)
It’s not a proper gathering without a good dip, right?
Mmmm … perfect for this weekend!
Thank you my friend!
You are so welcome!
Yummy! I have never made onion dip from scratch. I imagine the caramelized onions put it over the top!
It makes a huge difference!
Your are right, I do have all the ingredients for the dip as well as carrots and celery to serve along side. Now all I need is guests to enjoy the dip with. 😊
My new easy favorite, I think I’ll make some today!
A yummy dip Jenna! ♥
