Party Panache, Feed a Crowd with a Hot Dog Bar

For the past four years we’ve spent Labor Day

gathered with extended family on the coast

They rent a condo nearby

and at night we gather our house for dinner

A Shrimp Boil is a great way to serve a crowd,

Shrimp, corn on the cob, new potatoes and sausage,

boiled in a huge pot on an outdoor stove with Cajun seasoning

There were 18 in our group, that’s a lot of mouths to feed!

We also got a platter of popcorn chicken and patriotic cake bites

from our grocery deli {Publix}

Saturday the group came over in the afternoon to swim

and watch the Alabama football game

CC was brave,

she was the only girl in the rowdy group of 6 boy cousins

We noshed on Fried Pickles during the game

And a couple of yummy dips~

Spinach & Artichoke Dip {Publix deli} and

DD made her famous Stuffed Bread Bowl Dip

This time she made it in a loaf of ciabatta bread,

it was quite a show stopper!

Later that evening we had a Hot Dog Bar

This is another great and easy way to feed a crowd

The long table was set up with a fresh disposable cloth,

with a tray at one end holding napkins,

and dinner baskets with checked paper liners

Because we were outside and in humid conditions

I left the condiments in their containers

and lined them up in a row for self serving

A bowl held packages of buns

{King’s Hawaiian Hot Dog Buns-so good!}

Ketchup, mustard, Ranch sauce, Burger sauce,

dill spears, pickle relish and pickles

and a variety of chips in individual bags

for freshness and easy serving

Crispy Onions were in a bowl at the end of the buffet

for a crunchy final topping

Fresh Gourmet brand Crispy Onions are like French Fried Onions,

but I think they’re better,

they taste great right out of the bag,

no heating required!

Look for them near the salad croutons and salad dressing

Now all we had to do was grill the hot dogs

The hot dogs were put on a platter on the table

and everyone helped themselves

There was plenty for seconds and thirds,

some of the boys had 4 hot dogs!

It was my Brother-in-law’s birthday

so we had a festive cake for dessert

Clean up was a breeze, no dishes to wash

and the paper basket liners and tablecloth were just tossed away!

If you want to get a little fancier,

try these Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs with Pineapple Salsa !

Thanks for joining our family fun!
