Fearless Friday, MacKenzie-Childs Apothecary Jar

I had this large apothecary jar gathering dust in the garage

and decided to paint it in the style of MacKenzie-Childs

I made a collage in PicMonkey of several MacKenzie-Childs pieces

for inspiration as I was painting

I didn’t really have a plan, I decided to make it up as I went

I started with some stripes on the base

Next came black checks on the white stripe and a curvy pink line

Laying in on the side made it easier to paint

I painted the same curvy stripe around the top

I decided to make a black and white check stripe

around the knob at the top so it would match the bottom

and then added abstract blue flowers,

2 short, simple strokes or dabs, close together

I decided to paint a couple of large simple flowers

on the main part of the jar so I painted yellow centers

and set it aside to dry while I worked on the top

Dabs of green for the leaves

Big simple strokes with a large round brush

formed the flower petals

and wavy stroke for the stem and leaves

I added more 2 stroke blue flowers to the jar, along with black dots

and painted yellow dots between the base stripes

and on the jar top

I put several rows of orange dots on the top

to tie in the orange flowers on the base

It’s so much fun to take something you already have

and transform it with a little paint!

Have fun and Be Fearless!
