Here we are at the end of February
and I have a bad case of Spring Fever!
Are you seeing any signs of Spring in your neighborhood?
I’ve been spotting daffodils, forsythia and budding trees
With daffodils on my mind I went to Pixabay for a photo inspiration
Bright yellow and blue bring instant warmth and sunshine 🌞
Let’s draw this beautiful daffodil!
First a pencil sketch
Pick a start point and draw shape by shape
Once you’re satisfied with your sketch,
you can ink over it with a waterproof liner pen
and erase the pencil
If you want to color along there is a free printable here
Select the markers you want to use
I always refer to my color charts
then test them on the margin of my paper
for quick reference
keeping the pens lined up in order of marks
I started with the lightest areas
Then I decided to do the darkest areas
When you study your subject, and really look at it,
you will realize that a simple yellow daffodil
is made up of many tones and colors
depending on the light, shadows, and surrounding elements
Next I concentrated on the mid tones
And added more lights
Green stem
Time for some blue skies
The deep blue really makes the yellow pop!
I added a few more lines to the petals for texture
“Spring Fever” 7″ x 10″ marker on mixed media paper
Have some coloring fun and
Be Fearless!
