Welcome to the monthly Creative Craft Hop
hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather
Welcome friends, readers, and visitors from
Summer is flying by and it will be Halloween before we know it!
It’s time to start thinking about pumpkins and Halloween!
Today I’m going to show you a quick craft you can do
to add to your Halloween decor
All you need is a plastic charger plate, ribbon, wire and paper
I used a black charger plate {Hobby Lobby} that I already had
and several different ribbons from my stash
You could also use a round pizza pan from the Dollar Store
and paint it black
My original thought was to paint ghosts on the charger,
but then I got a better idea…paper ghosts!
I traced the inner circle of the charger on a piece of white card stock
so I’d know what size to make the ghost to fit inside
Then I drew a ghost shape and cut it out
I decided he needed a buddy!
AND here’s the best part!
Masking tape holds them in place so they can easily be removed
and the charger can return to the tablescaping supplies~
The paper ghosts can be kept to use again next year
Use a black marker to draw small circles for the ghostly faces
Make the bow by folding wide wired ribbon into loops
Secure it in the center with floral wire to form the bow
Then I added a length of burlap ribbon under the bow,
securing it on with the wire
Then a piece of candy corn ribbon {Hobby Lobby}
is tied on the bow center hiding the wire
I wanted to decorate the rim of the charger with candy corn
Candy corn is easy to draw or paint
You can see a tutorial here
Again I decided to use paper instead of paint
and found a perfect candy corn graphic on PicMonkey
I made a page full of candy corn and printed it out on card stock
If you’d like to print this out for your own craft
you can download the printable here
Once the ghosts and candy corn were taped on,
I used tape to secure the bow wire to the back of the charger
so the bow could hang over the edge of the charger in front
to fill the space I left on the charger rim
An easel stand is a great way to display the plate for Halloween decor
or to create a vignette anywhere in your home
You can get the faux candy corn pieces on the table on Amazon here
Watch out, other ghosts are likely to join the fun!
You can see the tutorial for the Burlap Bottle Ghost here
You could also add a command strip or glue a picture hanger on the back
and hang the plate on your wall or door
This heavy duty 2 sided tape is great for hanging things
without marring the surface with a nail
It is available on Amazon here
I am not an Amazon affiliate,
just recommending things I like and use!
I hope I’ve inspired you to have some Halloween fun!
