Fearless Friday, Holiday Wreaths

Let’s continue creating Christmas spirit

and paint holiday wreaths and holly 🎅🏻

These are easy peasy,

and no fancy art skills required!

You can use watercolor or markers

and make cards, tags or gift wrap

Supplies:

watercolor paint, colored markers

card stock, heavy watercolor paper

blank cards suitable for watercolor or marker

white bags or butcher paper {for gift wrapping}

Let’s start with holly

Load a large round brush with green watercolor

Paint some abstract loose leaf shapes

Add some red berries with small round shapes

When the paint is dry,

use a fine liner pen and loosely draw the leaf and berry outlines

and a few swirly lines~

that’s it!

Make a gift tag or a card

or paint a bag or piece of butcher paper

with scattered holly sprigs and use it to wrap a gift

You can also create a festive wreath with markers

Start with a word or message

Then make a circle around it with short green strokes

Curve the strokes in the same direction all around the message,

forming a circle

I used a dark green marker first,

then added more branches with a lighter shade of green

Then lime

Add red dots for berries and to decorate the center

You can outline “merry” with a black fine liner pen

for a final touch if desired

This is the same wreath in watercolor

With a red bow to finish

The next watercolor version uses abstract shapes and dots

I indicated leaves with dabs of my brush,

just randomly putting down different size shapes,

fast and loose, not over thinking it

I used what I call “scribble technique” for the final touch,

outlining some of the shapes with a black fine liner pen

and basically scribbling over the leaves

I made some collages of these tutorials

in case you want to pin them for reference

Holiday Wreath is also available in my Society 6 Shop

on many different items!

There are huge pre-Christmas sales going on right now

You can shop here

I just added children’s t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies to my shop too

and can’t wait to get some for my grands

Many styles and colors, you can see a sampling here

I hope you have fun trying these wreath and holly designs,

I would love to see photos of your creations!
