Today we’re going to paint an easy flower
that anyone can paint!
It begins with small drops of watercolor
in alternating colors forming a small circle
I used yellow and orange
Load a small brush with watercolor by dipping it
with just a bit of clear water and a lot of paint
so the dots will be full strength
Dip a large round brush into clear water
Keep in mind
that the amount of water you use
will determine how dark or light the petal will be
You might want to practice your strokes on scrap paper,
dipping the tip of the brush into 2 alternating adjacent colors
and pulling brush out from center
making a large loosely shaped petal
Now put 1 dot of light and dark green where you want petals to be
With a smaller round brush add the leaves
like the way you did the petals, but into a smaller shape
Paint the stem with the darker green with a smaller brush
and stroking down in between 2 petals
Let the paint dry thoroughly
You can use a handheld fan or a hair dryer
to speed up the process
When it was dry, I added short lines in the center
with a .08 fine liner pen
I filled the circle with very small circles and began to add stamens
with long curvy lines
The petals got loose outlines
Then the stem and leaves
For a finishing touch I added peach dots
with a Zig Clean Color Dot Pen
This fast and loose technique is a lot of fun,
it’s like coloring outside the lines
I hope you’ll give it a try~
