Fearless Friday, “Lidy’s Flowers”

Day 27, World Watercolor Month!!

I almost managed to do one watercolor each day this month,

😅

some very small and simple and others more complicated

When I’m working on a large and detailed painting I set up my easel with the model photo on the right and my color chart on the left

Even though I’m familiar with the colors I use, I still like having the chart handy because I can visualize which colors I could mix to get the color I need

The above photo is what I used for my model,

it’s from Lidy at French Garden House

I didn’t do a sketch for this one,

I started with light washes

and large shapes to define the composition

Then I slowly add more layers and details

Here I began defining the china terrine that held the flowers

Darkening leaves

Working on foreground and oranges

Finishing flowers

Finishing with a light blue wash for the background
