Day 27, World Watercolor Month!!
I almost managed to do one watercolor each day this month,
😅
some very small and simple and others more complicated
When I’m working on a large and detailed painting I set up my easel with the model photo on the right and my color chart on the left
Even though I’m familiar with the colors I use, I still like having the chart handy because I can visualize which colors I could mix to get the color I need
The above photo is what I used for my model,
it’s from Lidy at French Garden House
I didn’t do a sketch for this one,
I started with light washes
and large shapes to define the composition
Then I slowly add more layers and details
Here I began defining the china terrine that held the flowers
Darkening leaves
Working on foreground and oranges
Finishing flowers
Finishing with a light blue wash for the background
“Lidy’s Flowers” 9″x12″ watercolor
I hope you will visit Lidy at French Garden House, she is always creating beautiful arrangements and posts details and tips on how to arrange them
Thank you Lidy for the beautiful eye candy!
