Fearless Friday, Rose Collage

Last week we talked about Collage Art

and how I wanted to make one

but couldn’t seem to get started~

I enjoyed all your comments and as I was sitting in my studio,

I finally got an idea!

This Pink Roses painting was on my easel

because I had recently used it in a photograph…

There is a lot of background space

so I decided to add more flowers

with flower drawings from my old sketch books

I decide to stick with just roses

I cut them out

and arranged them on the canvas

I got out the Mod Podge

and glued them down

One more rose

This one was a pain to cut out!

I decided to add marker dots in the remaining white areas

On to the canvas it went

I decided it needed a little more blue/purple to balance the composition

so I made a copy of the blue rose with my photo editor, PicMonkey

I removed the background with the back ground tool

Then I colored the remaining areas I didn’t want to use

with the black drawing tool

Still using my photo editor,

I adjusted the size and added two of them to my painting digitally

Rose Flower Collage, 18″ x 24″ mixed media on canvas

Which one do you like better?

One blue rose {left} or 3 blue roses {right}

This was a fun challenge for me and have more ideas for future collages

Even if you feel like you can’t draw or paint,

find photos in magazines or online that you can print out

and use to make your own collage
