I saw this pretty watercolor rose on Pinterest
and it inspired me to try and recreate it
with my new art supplies
I began with a simple pencil sketch
and couldn’t wait to start coloring!
I quickly realized I was going to have a challenge
hiding the pencil…
This rose is going to be a little funky
because I am exaggerating the colors
I added hot pink next
Then a little red
Time for some green, I used 3 shades
It was looking a little rough at this point,
so I used a 0.2 black fine liner pen
to outline the petals and leaves
and to cover up the pencil lines
For the finishing touch and to soften the bright color contrast,
I shaded parts of the petals with colored penicls
Whether you are an accomplished artist
or just drawing and coloring for fun,
make a color chart of your supplies to refer to
Yes, this takes a minute, but it will save you time and frustration
I arranged them in the case by colors and tones
The color chart has a numbered swatch of each color
so I know where to find it
It is also important to make a chart
because the colors are not always
what the cap color or name suggests~
What do you think this pale pink one should be called?
peach, shrimp, or coral!
I also made a chart for my 72 color pencil set
The colored pencil chart is not as easy to use because
the pencils have their name printed on the shaft,
and right now I have the pencils in a cup,
but the chart is still important to refer to the color samples
I did this quick sketch of one of the flower vases decorating my room
{the one behind CC’s watermelon art}
Get out your colors and play!
