Colorful Rose
I saw this pretty watercolor rose on Pinterest
and it inspired me to try and recreate it
with my new art supplies
I began with a simple pencil sketch
and couldn’t wait to start coloring!

I quickly realized I was going to have a challenge
hiding the pencil…

This rose is going to be a little funky
because I am exaggerating the colors
I added hot pink next
Then a little red

Time for some green, I used 3 shades
It was looking a little rough at this point,
so I used a 0.2 black fine liner pen
to outline the petals and leaves
and to cover up the pencil lines
For the finishing touch and to soften the bright color contrast,
I shaded parts of the petals with colored penicls
Whether you are an accomplished artist
or just drawing and coloring for fun,
make a color chart of your supplies to refer to
Yes, this takes a minute, but it will save you time and frustration

I arranged them in the case by colors and tones
The color chart has a numbered swatch of each color
so I know where to find it

It is also important to make a chart
because the colors are not always
what the cap color or name suggests~
What do you think this pale pink one should be called?
peach, shrimp, or coral!

I also made a chart for my 72 color pencil set

The colored pencil chart is not as easy to use because
the pencils have their name printed on the shaft,
and right now I have the pencils in a cup,
but the chart is still important to refer to the color samples
I did this quick sketch of one of the flower vases decorating my room
{the one behind CC’s watermelon art}

Get out your colors and play!

I love your artistic rendition of your inspiration watercolor rose Jenna! 🎨 I can definitely see the value in making a color chart with your markers and pencils. I’ve been led astray by the color name when shopping for lipstick. 😊 The pale pink marker is definitely coral! Happy Friday 💗
Looks like coral to me! And aren’t the thin-point liners the best invention ever? I don’t know I could get by without them!
Jenna, I have to agree with the others…definitely not pale pink but coral. I love your rose and I immediately started drawing it. Color? will take more time…you are so talented and make it look so easy. Have a great day and stay strong. You can do it. Hugs and Blessings my friend.
Jenna, I agree it is definitely coral. I love your rose and it makes me happy to see your artistic work again. This post gives me smiles. Enjoy your day and you are in my thoughts and prayers as you recover❤️
I’ve missed your beautiful art lessons! My roses are coming on strong now!
Hi Jenna! I’m so happy to see your art again!
It’s so beautiful! It looks like CC is following in your steps! You have taught her well. Keep it up… We are all enjoying hearing from you!
Love you,
Sally
Jenna, I’m so happy to know you are enjoying your creative talents again and I love the beautiful rose you recreated from your find on Pinterest. Roses are special and your take on this pink beauty is lovely. We’ve been having new beds put in and roses went in to climb on the fence. I will always remember how you organized your art supplies. A place for everything and everything in it’s place! I know you are thrilled your granddaughter has received the same gift of being creative as you. You will enjoy seeing her learn and help in guiding her in the art. Love You 😘
What a delightful art lesson – glad that your wellbeing is increasing and we may hopefully have more such soon . . . sending you good vibes from wintery Down Under . . 🙂 !
Sitting on my porch painting now. So happy you’re artsy again!
Great tips on organizing your colors. That “pale pink” was anything but!

Happy to see you are being creative again – I have been playing with markers lately, too (Making holiday cards!)
Oh how I love your Rose Jenna! Colorful and beautiful.
I agree, that is coral and not pale pink.
I am so glad you are drawing again! Keep it up sweet friend! We have all missed you. I enjoy seeing Jenna in my mail again!
Jenna, you have such a gift! The rose is absolutely beautiful! Your color chart is a wonderful idea. I will be sure and share it with my daughter who loves to paint. I hope you have a blessed Sunday.
Jenna, I so happy for your new art supplies and I’m delighted that you are having fun trying them out! I love the vivid colors you chose for the rose and the sketch of the vase of flowers in your room. The pale pink marker is most definitely coral to me and if I was an artist, the color chart would be a must for me. I’m so glad that you are painting again!!!
I liked how you created your rose – it is so cheerful! I make color charts of my acrylic paints so I can see what I have and don’t order duplicates. Good idea to do with markers too as the cap doesn’t always show the correct color. 😊
I love how the colors blend together so naturally, making it look both elegant and unique. It’s definitely inspiring for anyone who enjoys decorative or food art!
What a delightful post about the colorful rose! 🌹 I absolutely love how you captured the essence of creativity and color in your art. Your approach to using vibrant hues not only breathes life into each piece but also encourages others to express their own individuality through painting.
I wonder what it might look like if you explored different textures alongside those bold colors? That could add another layer of depth to your already stunning creations! Thank you for sharing such inspiring content; it truly ignites a passion for artistic exploration in all of us! Keep up the fantastic Snow Rider 3D work! 🎨✨
