Take-out Tuesday, Favorite Rosemary Recipes for the Holidays

One of my very favorite herbs is Rosemary~

I always have a fresh rosemary plant nearby to clip for cooking

it can elevate any recipe from ho hum to divine!

Let’s start with appetizers,

Rosemary Pine Nut Sables are like cheese straws,

except they are flavored with pine nuts and rosemary

Sable is French for “sand,” which refers to the sandy texture

of this delicate and crumbly shortbread-like cookie

This is a simple slice and bake cookie, that’s not sweet, but just a wonderful buttery bite with just enough rosemary to tingle your senses and pine nuts for a pop of flavor and a little crunch~

This is a fast and easy dough, whip up a batch and keep in the fridge over the holidays, and slice and bake as you need them

Serve with a cup of coffee or afternoon tea, or as a cocktail biscuit or an appetizer, or wrap up a batch in a holiday bag or gift tin and give them to a friend, neighbor or hostess

Rosemary Mixed Nut Tartlettes are a sophisticated and SAFE way

to serve mixed nuts

The nuts are baked in a sauce of butter, brown sugar, heavy cream

and then poured into mini phyllo tart shells

and garnished with rosemary for serving

See the recipe here

Rosemary can also shine in side dishes

Rosemary Parmesan Bubble Biscuits

will make your tastebuds say “Ho ho ho!” …

they melt in your mouth and will quickly replace

the boring dinner roll on your menu

You can serve these with any entree

and they are also a wonderful pairing with soup or salad

Holiday Sweet Potato Rounds are a unique way to serve sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are cut into thick slices,

boiled to soften,

then mashed slightly and spread with garlic butter and baked

Baked rounds are topped with Parmesan

and garnished with fresh rosemary to serve

See the recipe here

You can also halve sweet potatoes and prepare them in a similar fashion,

making Rosemary Sweet Potato Boats

For lunch or a meatless meal,

try Mushroom Toast with Rosemary & Sea Salt

See recipe here

This Spinach Mushroom Tart with Bacon has

a rosemary garlic crust that will make you swoon!

Italian Sandwich Ring can be cut into small slices for an appetizer

or larger slices to pair with a salad or soup, or a meal in itself

It’s filled with Italian meats and Smokey Gouda Pimiento Cheese,

all tucked inside crescent roll dough,

baked and garnished with fresh rosemary

Instead of the same old roast chicken,

try Orange Cornish Hens with Rosemary Salt

And speaking of Rosemary Salt!

Not only is it wonderful sprinkled on top of just about anything,

it makes a great Gift from the Kitchen!

I hope I’ve given you some ideas to brighten your menus

and possibly make some gifts from your kitchen!
