I am doing a painting a day for World Watercolor Month this July
There is a list of daily prompts here for inspiration
Yesterday’s prompt was “Jittery”
hmmmm, the first thing that came to mind
was “sitting on pins and needles”
I found a basket of yarn photo on Pixabay with knitting needles
and added some pins and sewing needles
Usually when I do a watercolor painting,
I do a light pencil sketch and often go over it with ink,
and then add color
Today I thought it would be fun to go backwards,
adding areas of color first and then add the details
I put water on the paper in the basket shape
and dropped color into it letting it bleed and spread
When the paint was thoroughly dry
I went back with a .01 fine liner pen to make the painting come to life
To finish, I added spatter in the various yarn colors
“Pins and Needles” 5″ x 7″ watercolor on 140 lb. cold press paper
Just a quick painting,
experimenting with a different technique…
Be Fearless and try something new!
Here are the paintings from last week
“Rough”
“Entwined” “Tickle”
“Savory” “Tactile”
“Pins and Needles” “Home”
9 days to go!
