This giant baked submarine sandwich has lots of possibilities,
layered with tasty deli meats and cheese,
it can be sliced into appetizer servings
or cut into larger pieces for a meal
And anything goes!
you can use up what you have in your refrigerator
Leftover ham, turkey, deli meat, bacon,
cheddar cheese, swiss cheese,
onions, peppers, jalapenos,
let your imagination run wild!
We arrived at the beach house last week to a totally empty refrigerator
{we had to throw absolutely everything away after Hurricane Sally shut the power off for 5 days}
I didn’t have anything but what I brought with me,
ham, salami, cheddar slices and bacon
and my favorite condiment, Maple Bacon Aioli
Roll out the dough* on a piece of parchment paper
Spread it with whatever condiment you like,
Maple Bacon Aioli, mayonnaise, mustard, or salad dressing
*I used Pillsbury French Bread dough in a can,
but you could use puff pastry, crescent roll dough or sheet,
or pizza crust dough, just adjust baking time
Layer the meats and cheese, and whatever else you want,
evenly on top of the dough
Now, here’s where the parchment paper comes in handy,
use it to help you roll the dough into a log,
tucking the filling in as you roll
and repairing tears if necessary
Refrigerate dough roll for 1 hour or more
to help it keep it’s shape before baking
Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden
Cut into slices and serve
We noshed on this while watching our 2 favorite teams
battle on the football field
And some of us enjoyed a dip in the pool
With push-up pops for dessert
