This is a twist on an old Southern party favorite,
Bisquick Sausage Balls
Thank you Ricki for telling me about this version!
This combination is great for Christmas
because the red pimientos and green onion pieces
make them look party festive!
You can use prepared pimiento cheese, or make your own here
Because of the Christmas time crunch,
I used Palmetto brand Pimiento Cheese spread
You don’t have to cook the sausage first,
just mix the raw sausage with
Bisquick, pimiento cheese and green onions
If you want to make them spicier,
add jalapenos or use a pimiento cheese spread with jalapeno
You can also use hot sausage to amp up the heat if desired
I don’t recommend using a food processor for this dough
because it doesn’t cook up as light and fluffy…
it’s really best to just roll up your sleeves and mix with your hands
Use a cookie scoop or spoon or just your hands
to form dough into 1 inch balls
You can keep the balls in the refrigerator for up to 3 days,
or you can freeze them for future baking
