Creations, Painting Popcorn and Popcorn Treat Bags

Everybody loves popcorn, it’s fun to make, fun to eat, and easy to paint!
All you need are 3-4 colors, white, yellow, dark brown and black for lettering and accents
load a brush with a little yellow and a little white and let the paint mix as you apply it
Adjust as you go, making irregular dots in groups of 3s, 2s and singles
Leave some almost white, some deep yellow, all a little different
The color variations keep things interesting
By using both yellow and white on the same brush, natural shading occurs, giving your “popcorn” depth and shape
Paint some text with a fun font that doesn’t have to be perfect*
You can add little white or yellow dots for even more “Pop!”
Add some dark brown dots here and there for the kernels
And a message in the bottom of the bowl
You can paint individual bowls or bags
or even mini buckets!
Adding candy to the mix is always welcomed
A Popcorn Bar would be great for the Super Bowl 🏈
And popcorn goodie bags would make great Valentines 💝
You could even paint some hearts on your bags too!
Juicy Details
*for tips on freehand lettering see Monogrammed Frame mat here
black dot bucket and galvanized mini bucket are from Target’s bargain bins. You can find lots of buckets in all sizes at Home Depot and Lowe’s in the painting department, and they are great for painting. You can see a lot more painted buckets at Shrimp Bucket here
You can see more about making a Popcorn Bar here
You can use any kind of paint for the buckets and bags, but you must use paint made specifically for painting glass if you want to paint on bowls or other glassware. I use Liquetex Glossies. Once the piece has been painted, dried and baked, the paint is cured and you can wash your pieces by hand or in the dishwasher
