Recipe Box, Slow Cooker “Aromatherapy”

Last weekend my kitchen sink backed up…
and it was a while before the plumbers could come…
the whole house smelled really bad 😩
Then I remembered my crock pot
You know how the aroma of what you’re cooking fills the whole house throughout the day when something’s in the slow cooker? 🍲
So this is my version of “Slow Cooker Aromatherapy”
Spray the inside of the pot with cooking oil spray. Toss in a cut up orange and sprinkle it with cinnamon, cloves, pumpkin pie spice and add a little water. Turn pot to high and put the lid on half way so the fragrance can quickly escape
Within a short time, your house will smell like you’re baking something wonderful like this Hot Buttered Rum Roll Cake
I used a mini crock pot for this, so if you use a bigger one, just add more stuff. Throw in lemons, rosemary, anything you have that smells good~
You can also just throw some stuff in a pan like this Holiday Fragrance
Raid your pantry, you can use a vanilla bean and extracts for wonderful smells
This citrus rosemary mix smells like you’ve got Orange Cornish Hens with Rosemary baking in the oven
These are economical and healthy ways to add fragrance to your home, especially if you can’t tolerate commercial potpourris and scented products
What is your favorite aroma?

Oh I love the smell of rosemary and lemon too and garlic sautéed in butter and fresh baked bread and cinnamon. I love to make the house smell good with cooking and baking v
I do this with the peel from when I eat an orange Jenna, smells great:@)
I love simmer pots!! Sounds yummy. The scent of baking apples with cinnamon is one of my favorite comfort smells & was sure to bring my kids out of their rooms to see what was cooking!
I love the idea of crock pot aroma therapy, I know your house smelled heavenly!
I tried leaving a comment directly on your site. Now I am trying while looked directly into wordpress.
That’s logged in… Looks like it takes it this way. I don’t know why I can’t comment directly on your site. Anyway — great idea!
That is so crazy Ellen, I do apologize! Thank you for continuing to try. My kitchen smelled so bad I was roasting garlic, frying bacon, lighting candles besides the crock pot! It was a long day 🙂
Great idea Jenna, it’s never fun when you need a plumber! I haven’t used my slow cooker for this but I throw my lemon and orange peels in a small sauce pan and add a few cloves and a cinnamon stick. I love the smell of rosemary anytime 🙂
Love this idea, I usually have some apples or oranges getting pithy on the cabinet. Will never throw them away again. Found you on the stroll for life link up[.
Blessings

Thanks Tonia!
Great tips, I need to use my crock pot more. Thanks tons for linking to the No Spend, Clean, Purge October Linky Party.
Wonderful tips. I do the same thing. One of my favorite things about having a large herb garden is being able to pluck some different herbs and toss them in water and enjoy the scent throughout my home! Stopping by from Marty’s linky party!
