Creations, Scarecrow Fun!
Our beach community has a Scarecrow Festival every October
Which got me thinking, maybe you’d like to paint a scarecrow~
It’s easier than you think!
Start with a head, arms and legs~ I used white mixed with a touch of yellow and orange
Next add a swash of green for his shirt
Now add a dome for his hat
and a wavy brim
You can add Xs for his eyes while you’ve got the black out or wait until the finishing touches
Paint the overalls with a square tipped brush, using blue and white. If you put both colors on your brush, they will mix as you stroke, creating a natural shading and depth of color
One brush stroke for each shoulder strap, then run the brush across for the overall bib
Stroke straight down from the bib to form the pant legs
Now add the “straw,” using brown, orange and yellow. Load a little of each color on a small tipped brush and make quick short strokes
Add patches with stitches, buttons, and nose and mouth for finishing details
This artist scarecrow won my vote, I heart Art!

There’s nothing like a good fall festival!
You never know when you’re going to need a scarecrow!

I can always depend on you coming up with a clever idea, but if I tried to paint a scarecrow it would look pretty scary! I’m reminded of the year I tried to make turkeys for place cards Thanksgiving and my kids thought they looked more like hedgehogs.

It was disappointing this year, not many entries. I’m hoping when the new Coastal Arts Center opens next year it will get bigger again, it’s so much fun! >

I love the scarecrow fest but it was disappointingly small this year, boo hoo! You can’t mess up a scarecrow, they are imperfect anyway! >

The scarecrow festival sounds like so much fun, perhaps it is something I could get going here in Celebration. It is too bad it was so small this year. Your painting is so cute and you make it look so easy. I am anxious to begin trying my hand at painting some things, I guess I will just need to jump in!
