Certain subjects fascinate me and for some reason I have a thing for carrots
Maybe it’s their bright color, funny shape or multiple textures…
They just make me smile
This painted carrot tutorial, demonstrates how easy they are to paint
Today I thought it would be fun to demonstrate how different mediums and styles can create a variety of results from such a simple subject as a carrot

Water color carrots
This is a very fast and loose painting
Quick deliberate strokes with a fairly dry brush loaded with orange and yellow
More layers and beginning tops
Adding greens and final details
Carrots with ink and colored pencil begins with an ink sketch
Adding very light tone to the highlight areas
Building color
Deeper color
Very simple lines give the impression of the leafy tops
