Tablescapes, Winter Sparkle

I am envious of those who have holiday decor neatly tucked away

and all things neat and tidy

We’re still in Christmas Chaos here,

oh my gosh almighty!

I’m trying to purge as I put away,

what should go and what should stay…

I’m not ready to store the holiday lights,

they’re just so pretty on these dark winter nights

Parts of the house are neat as can be

But just outside the window,

guess what you’ll see?

A fireplace that’s almost as tall as a tree!

It started out small and then grew quite tall!

Day after day of rain

has been a big pain

But this winter scene

helps keep things serene

The sun did shine brightly on Christmas Eve day

and decorations outside made things jolly and gay!

The pizza oven is built now

and the Green Egg is built in

HHjr didn’t waste time getting it going

He smoked chicken to eat for Bama’s big win!

If it ever stops raining, next step is the stone,

we’re so excited about this new part of our home!

I try to stay neat and keep things nice and straight,

but this holiday project will be well worth the wait!

I will keep the lights going and enjoy winter things

All through January and the peace this month brings

Lots of plans and projects are on my “want to do” list,

but for now I am going to just enjoy this post holiday bliss

If things are messy, you’re getting things done,

so don’t sweat the details, enjoy the fun!

I am enjoying the [relatively speaking] clean slate of post Christmas chaos, just catching up on a stack of magazine subscriptions that piled up during Nov/Dec. I love your entry table and its soft glow, and that outdoor kitchen area is the bomb, just perfect for you guys! Yet another party on Monday night to cook up another storm for your crowd, no doubt. Enjoy!

Lovin’ your great new grilling area Jenna! Can’t wait to see it finished:@)

  3. I love your winter table. I am slowly packing away yesterday, today — probably longer. Like you I will leave up some lights to brighten the dark winter days and nights and two small “winter” trees because I like them and can’t let them go yet. And bring out some snow folk. But oh, it’s hard to bid it all farewell. I’m sorting too — Donate or Give. Never easy, to be sure…

No worries! We’re adults now and we can make our own rules, right?! I too, am slower than most at taking things down as the lights are too pretty and creates such a cozy atmosphere, Why rush. January is long and cold and the warmth they bring to my heart is worth it all. I believe it allows me time to reflect (because it’s way too hectic during the holidays) and time to plan for the New Year. The outside stuff is down and put away. The manger scene and few Christmas items will be put away this week, but the greenery on the mantle with the white lights will stay up for several more weeks as it just looks wintery. Go get a cup of tea and a piece of raisin bread, put your feet up and relax. Ahhh, isn’t that better? 😉 Your outside fireplace and grilling unit is the bomb!

    • Thank you Cyndi, I actually got the dining room cleaned up and organized today, so I’m feeling great about that! As much as I hate January weather, I love the feeling of no pressure this month brings, with no big events on the calendar!

I can’t wait to see the pizza made in your new oven!

Jenna, I can’t wait to see your finished outdoor fireplace and pizza oven. You are going to really enjoy it this spring. It is a dream of ours to have one. Enjoy your day!!!

  7. Great advice to relax and do what you want to. The only pressure we have is what we put on ourselves.
Everything is basically put away from Christmas here but a few things like the outside lights. I’m hoping to organize my closets but it is a huge undertaking. I wish I had an organization fairy!
Your outdoor fireplace is going to be fantastic. 🏈🅰️🐘

    enjoy the bliss! <3

Love your blog Jenna. What a great fireplace you’re going to enjoy once it’s all done. I love your Xmas décor still hanging around. Ours is too and we love lighting the lights each night. The days are still so short…we need that extra bit of sparkle each night. We won’t start boxing things up until the last week of January or maybe after Candlemas on February 2nd. Until then we will continue to enjoy them! All the best to you and your family this new year.

  10. Jenna, your outdoor fireplace is going to be gorgeous when completed. All of the sparkle is cleaned up and put away at my house. I have to admit, my house looks bare. Enjoy this month of quiet doing things you enjoy! The weekend sunshine was glorious. Roll Tide Roll🅰️🅰️🅰️

    • I had a feeling you would be all tidy Pam…I did make progress yesterday and everything is put away but my snowmen and some greenery, but I think that’s going to disappear quickly, I am longing for my house to look bare like yours!

  11. Mary says:

Oh you’re going to love having that outdoor kitchen area Jenna! I feel your pain with the rain…we were 18 inches over our annual rainfall for the year. The sun came out yesterday and I hardly recognized it 🙂 Enjoy the twinkle and glow of the lights. I’m still putting things away and trying to organize a bit as I go.

  12. I am right there with you….rain rain go away! I know I should be more forgiving because in our area if it were colder it’d be snow but sheesh! Pick a season. I am completely in love with your fireplace already and your table is calming me down too 😉

  13. Kitty says:

I love the sparkle of your entry table, Jenna. We all need a little light and twinkle in our lives. It’s exciting to see your outdoor fireplace and kitchen in the beginning stages. How wonderful that your son even used the built in green egg to smoke chicken. I enjoyed your rhyming words, as always. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  14. Happy New Year – Purging is on my list of things to do – it feels so good. I currently have 3 empty drawers in my home, which is rare!!

  15. Nancy says:

Your outdoor kitchen is looking outstanding!

    Your winter table is beautiful!

Best wishes for 2019! Happy Monday! Happy week!

LOVE that outdoor kitchen! YES, YES, YES! I do adore the simplicity of the tablescape. Those trees are darling. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  18. I don’t blame you for leaving part of Christmas up. Mine is down and the house looks so bare. Love your outdoor kitchen and can’t wait to see it when it is all finished. You will certainly be the envy of your neighborhood.

  19. Jill Kuhn says:

Oh, I am so excited for you!! Your outdoor oven looks FAB!! 😃👍 And I love your tabletop trees, so pretty! 💗 We put away our decorations over the weekend. It is always hard to put things away as I agree, it does add some cheer to a dreary day. ✨🌟 I wish I had your decorating touch! ❤️

Jenna, your home is so lovely and I love sparkle!!!! Decorations for the most part are still out here. I’ve put a few things away but for the most part having to wait until I’m feeling better to do that. But, you know how much I love Christmas so not minding. I love your “eat, drink and be merry” chargers, just awesome! Wow, the fireplace is really coming along with all the rain HHjr has had to deal with. I love the design, good job Jenna! And, how pretty with the decorations. I love the idea of an outside fireplace and pizza oven. Hope your week is off to a great start and you are feeling better………..
