Fearless Friday, Pelican Stone

Things are moving along on the outdoor kitchen, and they started covering the base with stone earlier this week
“Hey, what do you think this piece of stone looks like?” asked HHjr
“Don’t you think it looks just like a pelican?” he exclaimed
“Yes! When they sleep on the pier they sort of fold up into a big pillow of feathers!” I agreed
“You should paint it…” he suggested
“Sure, might be cute…”
This pelican will likely migrate to the coast to join his cousins…just a silly little stone, but a fun memory of the outdoor kitchen build and a reminder of how much we love the beach!
Sometimes it’s fun to paint on a different kind of canvas!
Keep your eyes open for new things to transform!
Be Fearless!
Pssst...Come back by Sunday to see the now finished outdoor kitchen!

Creative mom, creative son! Love it!
thanks Johanne 🙂
I find a lot of joy in serendipitous things like your adorable pelican. He’ll always be a neat reminder of the kitchen project. Be sure to date it….time slips away, and we easily forget the years of what we think are the most memorable things!
good idea, thanks Rita!
I love it, and I love that your son thought about it for you! <3
Adorable and so creative Jenna! I love that your son noticed the resemblance and thought you could paint it. ♥
Jenna! Cute cute pelican! You could build that into the stone structure for a permanent reminder!
thanks Sally, just a silly little project!
A new species of Pelican to celebrate your new outdoor stove!
Once I got finished, I thought, oh no, I should have probably painted a realistic pelican…oh well!
Good eye!! Your outdoor stove looks fab!!
Thanks Patti, we are so excited!
so creative !
thanks!
I love your pelican Jenna. You can take anything and make it beautiful with your drawings and painting. Great job girl friend!!!!! I can’t wait to see your fireplace completed.
ha, well I don’t know about that, but I appreciate your kind words Kari!
Love your pelican! You and your son make a great creative team! Can’t wait until the “great reveal”!
thanks Rosie, we do have fun!
So creative, love it!!
Can’t wait to see your awesome outdoor kitchen on Sunday!
thanks Patty Anne, it has been a treat to watch it come together a little every day!
Yay! So happy your kitchen is finished! I hope the weather improves so you can begin enjoying it. I love the little pelican. He definitely needs to move to Ono Island! Have a super weekend!
I know, bad luck that the first weekend it’s finished we are having such nasty weather! I bet there will be a fire out there at some point though! Stay cozy!
Good eye and art piece!
thank you!
I love how you see! And you’re exactly right — nice interp!
thanks Jeanie, just a silly whimsical fun!
I know you will find the perfect home for your pelican. Can’t wait to see your finished project, it is going to be wonderful. Can’t wait to see the good things you will create out there…I’m already hungry just thinking about it. 🙂
Thanks Karen, my son loves to cook, I can retire from the kitchen now, he has big plans for creating new dishes outside!
Well, of course I just love it!!! I have been wanting to paint a pelican on a rock for a while now. Never seem to get around to it.
I thought of you the whole time I was painting it, Lorraine, I’m sure you could paint a much better pelican than this silly one! But it was fun~
HHJr has your eye for all things art! It absolutely looks like a pelican and it will always bring back the time you build your outdoor fireplace and pizza oven. I think it will be a great addition for your beach house. Love how you painted it Jenna……………
thanks Emily, it is silly but it will look cute at the beach…
I love the pelican and the sweet sentiment behind it. You have a wonderful son and I know there will be some creative dishes from your outside kitchen.
thanks Pam, he has been busy gathering ideas for all kinds of different things to cook in the pizza oven, he made cornbread in it last night!
It is so FABULOUS Jenna!! 😍 Sounds like your son has a creative eye too! 🐬
He definitely does, and gets very creative in his tile work…he also does tons of creative other things, like building an indoor putting green in our basement! I’ll have to post it sometime, it’s fairly amazing!
I’d like to see that! 😃 My hubby likes to golf.
