Tablescapes, XO Hugs & Kisses

Welcome to the annual Celebrate and Decorate Valentine Blog Hop!

Valentine’s Day is celebrated as a birthday in my house,  my son was born on Valentine’s Day, and he is a real sweetheart!

To keep this table more on the masculine side, I chose to use black, and bold red and white checks

Pewter plates, antique silver goblets, sleek gold edged flatware, and chalkboard ribbon for the napkins

The centerpiece features shiny silver packages nestled into a checked Valentine cloth atop a painted table runner {details at the end of post}

The heart ornaments and the star hanging from the chandy were recent gifts from a very special friend

❤️  Thank you Emily!  ❤️

A silver champagne bucket with a tray of crystal flutes anchor one end of the table

And a plate full of chocolate kisses anchors the other end

Plenty of Hugs & Kisses for this Valentine birthday!

Juicy Details

The table runner was made with a length of freezer paper on which I painted large black Xs and Os

For the napkins, I tied them with a length of chalkboard ribbon and used a chalk paint pen to write the X O on them

The red and white checked Valentine fabric is a round table cloth {Hobby Lobby} which I couldn’t get the wrinkles out of–I CAN NOT iron 😂 so I wadded it up  carefully arranged it and used it on top of the freezer paper runner

The gold edged flatware is a recent purchase from Hobby Lobby

The much loved Pewter plates were wedding gifts

The silver packages are actually wrapped square kleenex boxes that I have used many times in various vignettes and tablescapes

The silver goblets belonged to my paternal grandmother

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Jenna, Your Hugs & Kisses table is perfect for celebrating your son’s birthday or any Valentine’s celebration that’s a blend of masculine and feminine! I love your creativity and fun painted runner and chalkboard ribbon to tie your napkins! I always enjoy seeing your chandy ‘blinged up’ too. I hope you’re enjoying some of this warm weather and sunshine…almost warm enough to make chocolate melt 🙂 As always, it’s a pleasure pull up a chair at your table and blog hop with you ♥

  2. This is such fun and I really love the table runner and your wonderful use of the gingham. Very cheery!

  3. Jenna, your XO hugs and kisses table is just perfect for your son’s Birthday/Valentine’s Day celebration. The freezer paper XO runner is a great idea that I think I could even create. I haven’t seen chalkboard ribbon before, but I will definitely be on the lookout now. There are so many pretty details that I just love. Will there be pizza for the party? It is always a pleasure to blog hop with you! Happy birthday HHjr!

Love your hugs and kisses table! So cute Jenna. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  5. Cute table – love your table runner “idea” – I have to remember that! Happy birthday to your son!!

  6. Leave it to you, Jenna, to come up with a unique and wonderful tablescape with a man in mind. Your ‘artful’ arrangement of the cloth is perfect – no ironing required, LOL!!! Love the Xs and Os runner!! What a fun idea.

  7. Liz says:

I love this color combo. It’s my favorite for Valentine’s Day. I really like your centerpiece arrangement. The gathered cloth and silver wrapped gifts were a really creative design! Love the X O runner you created for the base and how you continued the silver theme with the dishes, stemware and flatware. My daughter was due on the 14th but came on the 12th. My husband’s is the 8th so we have always had a Birthday Valentine’s celebration too!

  8. Sharon Mann says:

    Lots of love here!

  9. Rita C. says:

What a great table, Jenna, especially for a guy! HHJr would certainly appreciate all your gestures on display here (as would his boys! I’ll sit on the end with them, where the Hershey kisses are!). Love all things you’ve used here, and as an artist, you really pack a punch with your creative license in use of butcher paper and chalkboard ribbon (not to mention the coasters). What do you mean, you cannot iron? lol, doesn’t matter, cause it sure looks good rumpled up in the center. Seriously, you are really creative. Sweet gifts from sweet Emily.

    • I am surprised the plate of Kisses hasn’t dwindled down yet 🙂 I must admit, I’ve snatched 1 or 2 myself! Seriously, I really can’t iron, I manage to make everything look worse!

  10. Jodi says:

    ❤️😍💕. Love it. Xo

I saw those and though of you and others that would enjoy them. I love them too 🙂 Enjoy your day. Hugs…….

  12. Oh, Jenna, this is so sweet! I am avoiding Valentine’s Day this year, but have made mental note of your centerpiece with the wrapped packages. I LOVE that idea! It would work for so many occasions, particularly when I am completely out of new ideas.
