Tablescapes, Sunflowers, Fish and a Birthday!
“Hey Gigi, do you want to play Barbie’s with me?” CC asked
“Hmmm…you know what, Mr. Rex is coming to dinner tonight
His birthday is in a few days, why don’t we set a special table…”
“Ohhh, that would be fun, I love to decorate!!” she said
“Mr. Rex loves to fish,
so let’s use our fish plates and have a fish theme,” I suggested
“And we could put birthday stuff at his place!” exclaimed CC
In no time at all, we had a festive fishy table!
We used sunflowers and a large hydrangea for a simple bright centerpiece
It was nice and low, so the conversation could flow!
It is perched on a fish platter,
with fish everywhere, all a scatter…
Fish are on the plates and glasses,
even the napkin rings had a fishy zing!
We put a birthday plate and pail at the place of honor
A garland of flags and a birthday hat,
Mr. Rex will certainly know where he will be sat
Candles on his glass and plate,
Just perfect for his birthday cake!
I highly recommend a tablescaping assistant,
Determined to make everything perfect, CC was very persistent!!

I painted the fish glasses after I bought the plates and pitcher 5 years ago {HomeGoods}
Painting fish is easy peasy, an almond shape, and eye and a fin or two… just be sure to use paint made for glass, that can be cured in the oven to make it waterproof, like this DecoArt Glass paint here

CC is going to be like her grandmother with her entertaining skills. I know Mr. Rex felt celebrated at this fun and fishy table. I can’t resist a sunflower centerpiece…it just makes me smile. Happy Sunday, Jenna!
Thanks Pam, I have been getting flowers from Publix using Shipt, they do a great job picking them out! Even though we didn’t have a gift, Rex loved his birthday dinner and said it was one of his best birthdays 🙂

CC is a great assistant, but she has a great mentor! I went back to the kabab recipe, and boy, do those look good! HHjr may be the grill master, but sounds like he had a great mentor as far as recipes go! It is right for the Queen to perch on the porch for peace and quiet!

CC is a mini-Jenna. How sweet that is for a grandmother! The two of you did a great job using the resources you had previously created and collected. (Lots more fun than Barbies.) You evenly cleverly dropped into rhyming couplets. What a delightful post for a Sunday morning.

In addition to liking the fishy tablescape, I also like that some of the photos are free of shadows from the overhead.
Thanks, it was cloudy when I was taking the photos, which is ideal for eliminating shadows, but it is usually so bright it’s hard not to have shadows…

Celebrating ones birthday at your home has to be a real treat.
Oh thank you! I felt bad because I didn’t have a gift for him so this dinner party was his “present” He was quite blown away with all the attention!
