One of my favorite things to upcycle is a glass bottle,
there are so many things you can do with them!
This is a liqueur bottle that I saved because of it’s unusual square shape
One side is copper and gold and the other side has several discs of aqua
I used paint, pieces of old jewelry, small tiles, and flat sided glass beads
I painted the bottle white
and painted the rectangular insets with gold
Gold paint can be tricky,
I found my craft gold paint was thin and didn’t cover well,
so I used artist’s acrylic gold to achieve an opaque result
I painted abstract designs on the black glass flat sided beads
with quick strokes using a small brush
When the bottle paint was dry I laid it down
and played with the different various embellishments
until I had a composition I liked
and then glued everything in place with a glue gun
and did the other side
The top was painted gold and embellished with discs
that would match both sides of the bottle
I gave the bottle “shoulder pads” with gold glass beads
and smaller painted black beads
and put another painted black bead in the center of the top
Each side also got a painted black bead
I have been enjoying it in the family room,
in the corner on a shelf in the secretary
It also looks nice on the dining room table
with other seasonable elements
I like the copper side for Fall and can display the side with aqua
in the Spring and Summer

Jenna, your bottle is so glamorous and beautiful! It is the perfect accessory to complete a vignette. It looks so pretty in both your secretary, and I love the aqua side with the MC pieces. It looks like it was made to go with them. Happy Wednesday!

Jenna, how clever dressing up and doing a recycle on these pretty bottles. I also thinks it’s nice to use a variety of old jewelry and old buttons and whatever we have. So many pretty vignettes around your home. This bottle, so pretty on both sides really makes a pretty addition to your bottle collection…….Happy Wednesday.

Jenna, what a great way to use a glass bottle for a fall decoration. Very pretty and nice to use embellishments you already had. I’ll have to tell Sweet Shark to save our Amaretto bottles.

I totally love this idea! My husband and I tend to keep especially nice liquor bottles, but I never thought of this approach to decorating them. I will be featuring this idea in this week’s Creative Compulsions.
