Fearless Friday, Golden Pumpkins

We’re going to do something a little different today

This is really more of a craft session,

in honor of all of you that think you aren’t artistic,

these are artistic crafts you can do!

We are going to jazz up some pumpkins, both real and faux!

I like to keep decor simple in November,

give my home a visual break from Halloween fun and Christmas chaos,

using white and gold

These golden pumpkins are perfect for transitioning from October

to Thanksgiving and the December holidays

You can use paint or gold leaf

I apply gold leaf with Mod Podge and a brush

It’s tricky stuff, so be prepared to let it do it’s own thing 😅

These “baby boo” mini white pumpkins have gold painted stems

A few have painted stripes and dots, and several have gold leaf

and one got a sprinkle of gold beads

I applied gold leaf on a few larger faux pumpkins too

All three got golden stems,

and 2 have painted gold stripes down their ridges

and one has gold leaf around the top

These mini golden pumpkins are so pretty paired with gold magnolia leaves

You can also make holiday glasses with gold leaf

see tutorial here

I encourage you to add some golden touches to part of your decor!

A few stripes and dots can take something from bland to beautiful!

If you’re not comfortable with a paint brush,

try a gold or silver paint pen to add dots and stripes

Happy Friday, Jenna! Your pumpkins with the gold touches are so pretty and elegant. They look so beautiful with the gold magnolia leaves. I have never worked with the gold leafing. I may have to try my hand at it, because I love the way your pumpkins turned out with it. It’s a perfect fall look! Enjoy your day and weekend!

  2. Jenna, I have always loved gold to elevate the simple to the magical. This is a cute idea that I could do with EM. Happy Friday!

Thanks, Jenna for the pictures tips. I could do this. You make it look easy.
I am like Pam, I love gold so I need to buy some paint and get started.

Jenna, As always, creative and beautiful. Pre COVID, the Women’s Ministry at my church hosts a Holiday Dinner where we sponsor tables and go all out decorating them for the holidays, bringing out all our china, glassware, etc. I LOVE doing the tables and usually do 3 or 4. YES!!, I have that many dishes, LOL!! It is a very anticipated event and well attended by women throughout the community, I believe, because we women really enjoy beautiful tablescapes, etc. We have postponed it this year but hope to be able to do it in the spring which will allow for a new set of holiday tables (Spring and Easter).

I was thinking the gold leaf would be a very beautiful addition to plain stemware but was wondering about the longevity of it, washing, etc. What has been your experience?

    • hi Rhonda! Thank you! Oh, I do hope you get to have your tablescape events again, so much fun and fun to see everyone’s creations! As for the gold leaf glasses, I did seal them with another layer of Mod Podge {read about it here:https://thepaintedapron.com/2015/11/25/creations-gold-leaf-glasses/ } and I recommend warm soapy water inside the glass, wiping the rims with a hot soapy cloth, and rinsing without getting too much moisture on the outside just to be safe. A little bit of trouble but worth it for a special look. Have fun!

I love this idea of painting pumpkins with gold paint! I’m amazed at how well the orange pumpkin looks highlighted with gold! And I LOVE the beadwork on the white pumpkin. What wonderful ideas! Thank you for this transitional decor idea, Jenna!

    • Sure Rosie!! I made them for my daughter who is having a special dinner party tomorrow night, I’ll be posting her tablescape next week so you can see them in action 🙂

  11. These are really pretty — and you’re right — pretty simple. And they would be a beautiful November accent.

These are fantastic. I love the simplicity of the look, especially the gold on the orange pumpkin. What I like best is that these could work all fall for those who don’t favor Halloween decorations.
