Fearless Friday, Lipstick

I’m participating in the Doodlewash

July World Watercolor Month art challenge,

a watercolor painting a day for the whole month

Doodlewash provides a list of prompts to get inspiration from

or you can draw or paint whatever you like!

For yesterday’s prompt, “Reflection”

I painted a gold case lipstick from a photo I found on Unsplash

Art challenges are a great way to push yourself,

making drawing and painting a daily priority~

I began with a light pencil sketch

and added gray washes to the darkest areas

then gold washes with yellows and yellow ochre to get golden tones

Then I added black to the darkest areas

Red

Shadows

“Lipstick” 6″ x 5″ watercolor on 140 lb. cold pressed paper

I’ll let you in on a little secret,

there are bound to be days when you just can’t paint

so sometimes I do several paintings a day to keep up

I got a head start on July and painted the first 5 prompts

so I’d be able to post them on Instagram

over the busy holiday weekend

  2. That’s quite a challenge Jenna!

  3. I’ll really enjoy seeing your art. I don’t know if I’ll do all the prompts but will probably play with more than a few!
