Party Panache, Easter Appetizer Buffet

Our Easter Sunday is going to be a little unconventional this year

Easter 2023 falls on the second Sunday of April

which is also Masters Sunday

The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia

is a very big deal at our house

Both my parents and my husband’s parents were avid golfers

My FIL obtained the hard to get tickets decades ago

and they were passed down to my husband

who was also a passionate golfer

When my husband passed in 2018

I was able to arrange to have the tickets transferred to my son,

HHjr, who was the star of the golf team when he was in school

He decided not to go this year

because it’s supposed to be terrible weather~

cold, windy and rain, not fun for outdoor activities!

Our egg hunt will be inside because our forecast is the same

Our Easter Sunday afternoon will begin

with an Easter Egg Hunt for the grands

and we will be also be watching the final round

of the famous tournament on TV

DD and I decided it would be fun to serve traditional Masters food

with a few Easter touches

Perhaps the most famous food at the Masters is

Pimiento Cheese

I am a purist when it comes to Pimiento Cheese,

my recipe is simply extra sharp Cheddar,

Vermont White Cheddar, pimientos and Dukes mayonnaise

I am going to serve it in a bowl and provide and variety of dippers

and things to spread it on, cucumber slices, celery, scoop chips,

baby carrots and a bowl of Georgia Praline Pecans

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus is not a Masters food,

but Spring means asparagus and

these are great for serving on an appetizer buffet

There will be a kid friendly Fruit Platter

Plus another favorite with the kids,

“Bunny Toes” better known as Pigs in a Blanket

BBQ sandwiches are popular at the Masters,

so we will be having BBQ Pulled Pork on small Hawaiian rolls

You can make this a day or 2 ahead of time

and simply reheat it {I reheat mine in a Crock Pot}

and assemble the little buns right before serving

Dessert will be mini Coconut Cupcakes with

“Easter grass” topping

Since we will be inside this year

I am going to set up the buffet on the kitchen island

and load it with flowers, eggs and bunnies!

If you celebrate Easter,

what is your favorite food or tradition?

Please share, I’d love to know!

Jenna, I definitely going to try my hand at making homemade. pimento spread. We will probably watch the Masters too. We always went to our country club and had brunch. Later in the morning the club arranges an egg hunt on the 1st tee.

    • Homemade is so much better than the prepared spreads, and it’s easy to make too. Brunch at the Country Club sounds lovely! I hope the rainy forecast for the Masters doesn’t affect the golfers too much. Happy Easter Bernadette!

  2. I wish I didn’t have dinner planned. Actually, I wish Rick was more of an apps guy than a “let’s have a full dinner” guy! I’d do this in a heartbeat and I’m saving it as a reminder of some good things for our next Cork Poppers gig!

    • Thanks Jeanie, an app buffet works so well when there are kids involved, I hope you have a wonderful time and don’t have to work too hard in the kitchen! Happy Easter 🐇

  3. I love a meal of appetizers! Everyone seems to love it as well!

  4. Sounds yummy – I will be making carrot cake tomorrow!!

Jenna, your Easter menu sounds delicious! I love pimento cheese, and I am a purist as well when it comes to the recipe. I will be hosting Easter this year. We will have a smoked ham with traditional sides and desserts. The sides are always my favorite especially the potato casserole and deviled eggs. I wish you and your family a happy and blessed Easter!

  6. Looks like a great Easter spread. The egg hunt will be so much fun for the grands. Lots of yummy food to make everyone happy. Happy Easter 🐇 Jenna.

Jenna, I am a purist about pimiento cheese and I am a big, big fan! Your Easter app buffet sounds perfect, and easier than the big spread I will do, but just as good, maybe even better! Wishing you a blessed Easter

  8. What a fun way to celebrate Easter and the Masters! The food looks so yummy! Thanks for sharing these great ideas!

  9. This sounds like a well planned fun time celebrating Easter and the Masters. I love the menu, yummy and easy enough. Hoping the storms and rain will be out of here soon! PS, my pimento cheese is very similar to yours. I need to make that for the weekend………Happy Easter!

  10. Kari says:

Oh yummy Jenna….sounds like a perfect day with perfect snacks. I want to make them all. I’ve heard there is rain scheduled for Augusta, so your plan is perfect. Happy Easter my friend.

  11. Nancy says:

All the apps look delicious! We will be watching the Masters as well.

  12. Mary says:

It certainly will be crummy weather for the Masters and Easter in the Southeastern US. Your unconventional Sunday buffet sounds so tasty Jenna! Pimiento Cheese is a favorite in our house year round. Wishing you a Happy Easter celebration! 🐰🐣🏌️‍♂️

Not coming from a golfing family, I did not realize Masters’ tickets were such a big deal. It sounds like you made a good choice for the day. Where I live, if rain is predicted, it probably won’t happen. Where I grew up, Tennessee, if rain is predicted, you’d better be prepared. That’s close enough to Alabama to convince me you will have a fun, but rainy Easter. Your food plans are delicious! Enjoy your family and the blessings of the day.

    • Thank you Linda, it’s pouring today, but I did all my errands earlier in the week so I could stay cozy! Hoping for sunshine tomorrow, they’ve changed the forecast so fingers crossed!

  14. Kim says:

Oh yum – it all sounds delicious Jenna! I’m sure everyone enjoyed it and I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Sorry about the crappy weather for the Master’s.

  15. The food looks so good. I hope you had a great Easter weekend. I relaxed and did some deep cleaning.
