Fearless Friday, Rosy Rooster

I saw some fun Botanical Rooster art by Michele Norman

on Pinterest and just had to trying painting my own

I liked this one too, but can’t source the artist

No sketch today,

I wanted to paint my rooster free and loose with watercolor

I started with the head

Two large circles for the roses form his body

Leaves

After the circles dried,

petals are indicated on the roses with darker red strokes

Small shapes for his chest feathers

and arced lines are the beginnings of his tail

Lots more feathers and his legs

A little splatter on the ground…

Cock-a-doodle-do!

Fast, loose, and free

Be Fearless!

Rosy Rooster is lovely! I admire your amazing talent and creativity and enjoy your Fearless Fridays. I have a small collection of roosters, once very large one resides on my kitchen island. However, I once was chased by a rogue rooster while I was out walking. It appeared out of nowhere 😂

    Happy Friday, Jenna!

  3. What a handsome rooster!

Absolutely adorable, Jenna! I have a weakness for roosters and now I want to paint some. Of course, I’m not nearly as talented an artist as you are, but I think I could have some fun trying!

I absolutely love your rooster! I love roosters anyway. Have you ever seen any of the cookbooks written by Jaques Pepin? He has illustrated them with his own rooster drawings that they are just charming. Thanks for providing a step-by-step here. One of these days I’m actually going to try.

The above anonymous comment is from me. I’m not sure why my name didn’t appear. Pattie @ Olla-Podrida

    • Thanks for telling me Pattie. Sometimes WordPress asks you to log in with wordpress facebook or google and it shows the icons to click on before you reply and if you don’t it, the reply comes up as anonymous. Anyway, I’m not familiar with those cookbooks, I’d love to see them! I hope you try drawing one, they are fun subjects!

I love your fanciful rooster. He reminds me of Jacquie Lawson’s ecards.

Rosy Rooster is adorable! My mom loves roosters and used to paint too; I must remember to show this to her as she will absolutely love it. There is almost a painterly aspect to it with the roses and leaves making up part of the body. Such a fun and “fearless’ painting – love it!

P.S. WordPress seems a bit different her and I’m not sure how my comment will show up. If it comes up anonymous, it’s Kim from thecatswhiskerz.com
