Snow at the Beach!
Snow was predicted for Tuesday along the Gulf Coast…
I really didn’t think it would happen…
Then I saw Bourbon Street in New Orleans with a light dusting
and saw that the system was pushing East…
It started with a light dusting at our beach house too
It was below freezing in Orange Beach
so maybe it would stick around for a while
When I checked a little later, it was getting deeper!
These photos were taken by our Ring cameras
Next time I checked, the street had started to be covered
and you could see car tracks

The driveways were completely covered now,
and snow covered the palm trees

Then it started getting deeper
and look at how much covered the steps by the pool
Snow was still falling mid afternoon
The snow continued to get deeper
Now the bottom step is completely covered
In the front, the driveways had disappeared

at 5 pm, heavy snow was predicted for the next hour!
At 7 pm, when it was dark,
normally you couldn’t see anything from the camera,
but last night you could still see the bright white snow
Yesterday morning,
the snow was still shining brightly
10 am, no melting yet!

The temperature is not supposed be over 32 degrees
until late this afternoon, when the high is 34,
so I don’t know how much will melt
as the temps will then be dropping
below freezing overnight again
The next 2 photos are taken of our steps
from the porch down to the pool
from our neighbor’s yard
Look at all that snow on our outdoor dining table!
I’m sure that the people in the area are pretty stuck
where they are because all the bridges are closed due to icing
Things should be back to normal by midday tomorrow
when the temps are supposed to rise

As of 5 pm yesterday,
there was still quite a bit of snow still covering the yard!
The official total was 7 1/2 inches!!

So crazy and so beautiful!!

Hope you enjoyed seeing the snow for a brief time!
I’m glad we weren’t down there, the roads were pretty much closed for 2 days and the bridges were iced over! Unheard of for the Gulf Coast!!
That is certainly crazy for the deep South to have gotten all that snow! I’m so glad you shared these pictures, Jenna. I was wondering which location you were in, and how much you received. We’re supposed to hit a high of 35° today after three very frigid night temps. Yours is beautiful, but I am snow weary at this point. Our Jan 6 snow is still on the ground, with last week’s piled on. I hope you catch another picture of the melt, and tell us how long it was before it was all melted.
We couldn’t believe the beach got 7 inches of snow!! I’m glad we weren’t there, everything was still pretty shut down for 2 days. There is still snow on our pool deck and in the front driveways 3 days later! We got snow last week in Birmingham, I’m done with winter!!
So crazy! I haven’t left the house in days! Thank goodness for our hurricane supplies. We had a 30 minute power failure when it was 19 degrees out! I will be happy when this is over and temps go back up. I moved south to escape this kind of stuff.
Totally crazy! I’m glad you were stocked up!!
Isn’t unreal Jenna?! Snow in Florida, Louisiana and Texas too…I was hoping for a white fluffy blanket of it but we were denied again. It’s plenty cold for it (in the ‘teens) but it was too dry. Hope you’re staying warm and cozy! ♥
We still can’t believe it Mary and there is still snow on our pool deck this morning, 3 days later!! Freezing in Bham too, I haven’t left the fireside in days 😂
Jenna, the snow photos on the beach are amazing. I still can’t believe South Alabama and the Gulf Coast received that much snow. I am ready for temperatures to go above freezing! Stay warm!
We couldn’t believe it Pam, and there is still snow on the pool deck this morning, 3 days later!! I’ve been sitting by the fireplace all week in Bham, too cold for me!!
wow So pretty!
Very crazy!!
The weather has been so crazy this year – good thing you weren’t there! Did youo get any. snow at home?
Yes, we got 5 inches last week, but it melted right away so it wasn’t a big deal, just pretty to see! The roads and bridges were closed at the beach for 2 days!
Oh my!
Crazy!!
So crazy to see all that snow at your beach house. Palm trees covered in snow, who knew? Thanks for the photos.
Very very crazy!!!!
Don’t you wish you were at the beach too (fully stocked and cozy, of course!) I wondered how much you would get — that’s pretty fantastic! I think you have more than we Yankees do!
We can’t believe it!! Everything was shut down for 2 days and there is still snow on our pool deck this morning!!
Watching the news, snow on the beaches and southern areas that almost never see snow was jaw dropping! I was wondering if you were at the beach for it. Good days to stay inside and have hot soup!
No, I’m glad I’m not there, everything was shut down for 2 days!
Aren’t Ring cameras the best? I was hoping you’d be able to see it somehow. Here, just north of Orange Beach in Fairhope, we had 9 inches of fluffy snow. It’s still on the ground today. Isn’t it beautiful – and so VERY STRANGE???
I saw your pics on Instagram, 9 inches, wow, totally nuts!!!
Whoa! That is a lot of snow for a beach house! Did you get any at your other home?
We got snow in Birmingham the week before, 5 inches and the roads cleared quickly so no big deal. They’ve never had snow like that at the beach before!!
How “cool” is that! I am still amazed that the deep south got all that snow! Your snow looked like white beach sand. Lol!
Hoping its warming up for you.
Happy Weekend!
Isn’t that crazy Nancy?? A first for sure!! Still freezing everywhere 🥶
Oh my goodness! That’s a lot of snow, Jenna! Our temperatures were colder, but I think you got more snow.
Can you believe it, a first for sure!!
Oh wow Jenna! That is a lot of snow, even for this Calgary girl. It looks so weird to see the pool and then the palm trees covered in snow. I definitely admire your positive outlook in calling it beautiful lol. I hope it melts soon and that you are warm and cozy. Take care down there!
Yes snow at the beach is totally crazy Kim!! It’s freezing in Birmingham too, I’ve been sitting by the fireplace all week!
It looks pretty but I hope you have some good warm up soon!
Thanks Diane!
It is gorgeous! Sigh . . . we only had about an inch that was promptly covered by a coating of ice.
It was so crazy Sandra, and it didn’t melt completely for several days!
Hopefully the snow and cold temperatures won’t damage your palms. Just amazing tp see snow on them.
Crazy right? Fingers crossed we don’t loose anything…
That is crazy! I mean up here we’re quite used to that but at least we have all the tools and the know how to deal with it and drive in it. At least it isn’t sticking around very long!
We couldn’t believe it, a first for sure! Thanks for stopping by Joanne!
The Gulf Coast of Texas (south of Houston and other areas) got snow at Christmas in 2004. It was magical and we got a foot at our house. Snow in unexpected areas, especially the beach, is a unique experience. It was really beautiful to see the snow all along the coast. We got less than an inch this time, but it was still really pretty.
I don’t think it’s ever snowed in my area before, so crazy!
Wow! You got a lot of snow! Such crazy weather! I think this is the first year that we have had hardly any snow at home. We have some at the lake but it is in the mountains. Supposed to get 4 inches at the lake this weekend. May stay home…
I know, no one can believe it! A first time for sure!!
