Tablescapes, Game Day

People tend to gather at our house for game day…it could be something to do with HH’s 120″ TV screen in his man cave…but it’s really more about Alabama football! Southerners take their football SERIOUSLY. People check the football schedules before making any other commitments and tailgating is a business. Because we prefer comfort over crowds, we watch most games here on the big screen, surrounded by family and friends.
No matter what time the game is we always have a spread of food. I start preparations by getting out my crimson and white tablecloths, and all the Alabama stuff I can find. This Saban autographed football was given to HH last year by some good friends and it is always front and center now on game tables. I put out an assortment of glasses, wine, beverage, beer, and guests know to help themselves to a glass to use for their beverage.
The hand painted elephant tableware pieces are my original design and can be purchased over at JMdesignsGallery.com
Then I add pitchers, platters and bowls and yes PAPER plates…we usually make quite a mess so I’ll take any help I can get!
HH insisted on buying some flowers for the table so we chose some white mums and some red gerber daisies and I put them in a large white ceramic urn and tied it with a black and white houndstooth looking ribbon.
I added some ceramic elephants [you might recognize these from the Walk on the Wild Side Tablescape posted Sept. 16, 2012] and now the buffet is ready for food.
This day’s game was at 2:30 so people were HUNGRY because they skipped lunch awaiting the spread…Everybody brings a little something to contribute to the feast…
