Home Decor, Funky Front Door

I had some fun with mesh ribbon this year, I know it’s being used all over the place, but I’ve just never tried it…a little behind in the trend I realize, but now I see why this stuff is so popular! It is so much fun to use and so EASY! I just tucked a little here and there and my wreath and front door garland have a new fresh look!
The fat red mesh ribbon really makes the doorway “pop” from a distance.
I must confess, I have used the same garland for the past few, maybe even 10 years {Yikes! time flies!}, recently adding the larger ornaments and tweaking it here and there to keep it looking updated. But, when I put it away, I just leave the lights and decorations on it, so it’s just a matter of dragging this unruly snake of greenery and lights upstairs to the storage closet where it patiently waits in a heap until the next year.
The oversized M was in the center of the wreath, so I decided to hang it from the bottom this year so I could incorporate the mesh ribbon.
I just wrapped, and schrunched and tucked the mesh ribbon into the greens, and added a few loops of ribbons and small balls.
I first hung the garland, with wire wrapped around nails {the nails are up so high and painted making them invisible, so they just stay in place which makes this easy peasy}
Again, I just tucked and schrunched and it no time at all we had a whole new look!
I added some large ornaments and a metal holiday signs to my pots
It’s going to be a challenge to keep these “balls” in place with Super Boy around,
He thinks anything round deserves a toss!
I need to tuck the lights in better, but I confess, I hate to go up the ladder!
When it gets dark outside you don’t even notice!
Hungry Husband strung white lights down the railings and you can see the colorful light display of our neighbors across the street.
I’m getting a little worried, HH keeps running out to buy more lights…he is VERY competitive…and yesterday he came home with 2 lighted reindeer…
They do look cute though, peeking out from the bushes
The night becomes magical with the sparkling lights
AND here’s the best part
They are visible inside too!
The foyer glows from the colored lights
sigh….it is definitely worth the trouble…
I LOVE the magic of Christmas!

Using the old and making it look new again is my favorite way to decorate. You have certainly captured the magic of Christmas with your decorations. Lovely!
Thank you so much lulu, I have worn myself out, but have had a lot of fun. I’m still thinking about the gingerbread souflee you mentioned, please post about it!
Bravo! Wow…you did a really great job. Both you AND HH!!! 🙂 I love that you can see part of the decor from the inside. That makes it do double duty and saves a little time and moolah. Your foyer is really pretty, and I love those doors to the first two rooms in your house! That leaded glass on the front door surround is really cool, too. Don’t you just love it when the men get competitive when it comes to Christmas decorating? When will they figure out that’s all a part of our evil genius plan? 🙂 Simply beautiful!!!
Thanks so much Alycia, your praise is very flattering considering the beautiful settings I’ve seen you create! I’m exhausted! Back to work this week will be restful! You’re right, I guess sometimes we do have evil genius plans…that’s Ok, it’s good for them! I didn’t want to get into a “battle of the bulbs” with our neighbors however!
What a fun front door! Love the colors and the nice mix of ornaments. I’ll bet everyone in your neighborhood loves it, too.
This is so cute! Thanks for sharing it at the Get Your DIY On Challenge! Hope to see you back today with an ornament project- though this almost works for that too considering all the stunning ornaments you used- love the funky cheerfulness of it all!
