Tablescapes, Rustic Country Farm
Time to put away the summer brights [Artist’s Garden]
But I’m not quite ready for the deep autumn colors of Fall [Pumpkins and Apples]
So I am easing into the season with muted greens and oranges, sort of like the leaves just starting to turn
The last of the summer garden tomatoes
served in a simple farmhouse style pasta
A simple, country meal
Farm to table, with fresh ingredients
In a humble setting
Individual bread boards for slicing small crusty loaves
Tomato “martinis” with a bed of hay
These rectangular plates hopped into my cart at HG this spring
Perfect for holding a bowl of soup or pasta with plenty of room left over for salad and bread
Layered chargers, a brown rattan square under a pale orange round, emphasize the rectangle shape of the plate
Cream and sage colored napkins, tied with a swatch of burlap and twine,
pair up to catch dribbles from tomato sauce and buttered french bread
I’m dreaming of Tuscany and Provence
and simple days and simple ways
Because before we know it
The holidays will be upon us!
Now that’s a SCARY thought!!

I’m 100% with you. I love the transition shown through produce and the lead up to harvest but definitely too soon for me to dive all the way into the browns and deep rusts of late fall. Such a lovely transition table you’ve done that strikes just the right note… 🙂

Home Goods is just the diggity bomb, isn’t it? Love that place! Those are some of the most unique plates EVER!!! I can see you getting a million-and-one uses out of them year round!!! They’re perfect for so many settings! And are those HG crocks I see with that pasta meal in them? Love that color! 😉
This is neat because as you pointed out it is an easy transition. This is that time of year when it’s still kind of warm, sometimes cool, just sort of teetering back and forth. This setting captures that unsettled weather pattern in which most of us are living right now as summer fades and autumn is just heading in for the home stretch!
I read your response to Lory, and I understand about sometimes not feeling that a tablescape is up to par. Hold onto the pics, wait a year, and maybe you’ll feel differently about it. I often do that. Sometimes it has more to do with our state of mind than it does the actual tablescape. From what I can see, the excitement is there!

Thanks Alycia, I really appreciate your words, I know you have often said “I almost didn’t post this” when I couldn’t figure out why! My tablescapes usually fly together and this one was more of a chore…but I am pleased that it was well received. We are still very hot here, not a touch of fall anywhere except dried up flowers and leaves from the hot sun!
This is such a cute table!! I like to ease into fall as well and you’ve done it beautifully! The lighter orange and greens work so well together, especially with those cute plates!
