Take-out Tuesday, Slow Cooker Bacon Apple BBQ Chicken

When I saw this recipe over at Closet Cooking, I knew the guys in my family would love it

They are all about anything covered in BBQ sauce

You can prep this very quickly, 5 minutes if you’re a good chopper   😉

Wrap chicken tenders in 1/2 to 1 slice of bacon, depending on size of chicken pieces, and place in a prepared slow cooker

Top with sliced onion and season with salt and pepper

Top with apples and drizzle with lemon juice

Pour BBQ sauce over all to cover

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours

Carefully remove chicken pieces with a slotted spoon and serve topped with apples, onions and more sauce from the pot if desired

Slow Cooker Bacon Apple BBQ Chicken

2-3 large boneless chicken breasts, cut into 3-4 tenders each breast

8-10 slices raw bacon

2 Granny Smith apples

2 T lemon juice

1 sweet onion

2 cups BBQ sauce

salt and pepper

Core apple and cut into large cubes.  Slice onion.  Wrap chicken tenders with a raw bacon slice and put in prepared slow cooker.  Top with onions and season with salt and pepper.  Add apples.  Pour BBQ sauce over all.  Cover and cook on low 8 hours.

Serve with some crusty bread to soak up the sauce and balance out the sweetness of the BBQ sauce
