Creations, Monogram Side Table

I have been eyeing this table for a while…
It’s from what I like to call my “Victorian” phase
The floral insert is ceramic, and although I still like it, it’s doesn’t go with anything now, so out came the Annie Sloan Old White
I used Annie Sloan French Linen on the ceramic insert, carefully painting the edge and then filling in the center
When that was dry, I roughed in a free form M
If you don’t have a stencil or a graphic you can get inspiration from fonts, and Pinterest
I printed these out and doodled around, combining different elements to design my own [bottom center]
Once I had the basic shape done, I outlined it with a gold leafing pen
I sanded the edges and added some gold gilding wax
I finished the design with gold swirls and dots
There is a lot of pattern in the room so I kept it simple
It’s now a handy side table for my lap top
or wherever we need it
This was a quick and easy project, the best thing about chalk paint is that it paints over just about anything without prep and dries so quickly
Let the gold leaf dry overnight before waxing, and then experiment with a small area before covering the whole thing to make sure it won’t smear
The letters on this Name Plaque are outlined with a silver leaf pen
The accents on this Chalk Painted Secretary are also done with a silver leaf pen
You can order gold and silver leaf pens here
Now, don’t you want to go paint something 🎨 ?

I love your table metamorphosis Jenna, of course I’m partial to anything with a monogram ‘M’ 🙂 I love how quickly ASCP dries. I have a couple of projects and things that could use a new coat of paint but I’m waiting for warmer weather before I tackle them 🙂
Oh my goodness! I love this table! Your talent for painting is limitless. I would HAVE to stencil that, but you are able to give things your own personal style (with smooth lines and exactness that I could never achieve). Let’s just stick with my envy for your painting skills, OK? I’ll stay in my corner holding my stencils and sucking my thumb. Ha!
How about you sew and I’ll paint 🙂 >
Deal!
love what you did with the table! That would look lovely in my home! 🙂
I think we all had a Victorian phase… This table looks smashing, and you do such creative things! And yes, I do want to paint something. I base-coated a few things the other day, and I am now waiting for inspiration as to what to do with them.
Jenna, you did an excellent job! Lovely little table that will come in very handy I’m sure.
Love the new look. You are so talented and such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us.
Thanks Patricia, so nice of you! >
We have the same initial – I like the idea of monogramming a small table. Very Nice!
Jenna, quite a transformation!! I love your monogram! I need to do some painting, haven’t been in the mood, but you have inspired me!
So adorable! If there wasn’t a blizzard right now, I might run out to get supplies 😉
oh you poor thing, stay warm!
How pretty this turned out, I think monograms are so chic and elegant. Glad you are happy with your project, congrats! Found you at the Table It link party.
