Tablescapes, Aqua Ice

I have a little confession to make
It’s about a cake that failed when baked
I bought this fancy snowman pan
To wow, impress, and man oh man
My icing really lacked some skill, maybe time in the fridge and a little chill
Nope, my ugly snowman looked the same…
And he toppled over from the shame…😭
But then his life was born anew
He turned to ice and aqua blue
He proudly stood in this aqua sea
on this table for 2, for my hubby and me
A sparkle of gold is warm and nice
It’s a good contrast to the silver and ice
No snow fell here but, BRRRR…it’s cold
And now I love my ugly wonderful snowman mold!
Add some gold to dreary winter hues
And aqua is guaranteed to cure the blues
January’s almost behind us, and that’s very good news!

Jenna, Your fancy snowman pan made a beautiful ice sculpture that’s more figure-friendly than cake! I’ve never seen blue velvet cake mix in the store before. Your aqua layers on your table are BEAUTIFUL and a welcome sight for the winter blues! All our snow and ice is gone except for patches and we have rain in the forecast today and then things start to warm back to the 60s for the weekend. Stay warm. 🙂
oh Jenna love your creativity in using it as an ice mold. That is brilliant! And I think the cake turned out adorable. You rock!
Jenna, this is just beautiful and so peaceful. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful post! Hope you are having a really great day!
Miz Helen
Oh, Jenna, once again you rock the creativity scale! I loved your “ode to a fallen snowman”! What a clever idea to make an ice sculpture. I’ll bet the cake tasted delicious. I don’t know what the secret is to successful frosting of sculptures, but your snowman had a personality of his very own, and in his own right was a success! Thanks for sharing! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
You are too nice Rosie, I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought that pan, I certainly didn’t think through the icing part! I guess the way to go is to pour white chocolate ganache on it…maybe next time 🙂 >
Genius! What a pretty table!
Jenna, as always you put sooo much detail and thought into your tablesettings.I love the fallen snowman!!!!
Yeah, I think he must have gotten into the wine while he was in the fridge 🙂 >
I love this color and your table setting is so very pretty.
Jenna, your snowman fell over just like they do when they begin to melt, but I love the ice sculpture! It works so well with the aqua! Love your creativity!
Your iceman looks cool! That was a very good use for the pan:@)
I love the aqua blues! Perfect for a cold winter day no matter where you are. I love the beach overtones too. Your snow man turned ice man story was so appropriate for a very strange winter season. I should have been at my Grand Daughters christening on Saturday but the drive through the snow in the mountains of West Virginia and North Carolina made the trip impossible. Yet in Ohio there was barely a flake of snow.
oh no Candy, I’m so sorry the winter weather cancelled your trip! I really don’t handle winter well, but you were smart to stay home and safe. I’m hoping that’s it for a snow threat in Alabama this year! >
I love this post, Jenna. Your poem is so cute and lot of fun to read (Talk about lemonade out of lemons – that ice sculpture looks fab!) The aqua table is beautiful. I love addition of the aqua and white beaded ornaments, and mixing the gold ornaments with aqua looks beautiful.
Thanks Laurie, yes I was pretty bummed when I made that ugly cake! I was determined to make something in that pan! >
Your table is lovely and the ice sculpture is just perfect. You don’t want to see the cakes that I have made using molds. Hideous!
Well, that makes me feel better Pattie! I might try a bread or a pound cake that doesn’t need icing 🙂 >
Gorgeous table. Loved reading your personal and amusing description of your Snowman. I have that same pan. Enjoy your week.
Thanks Valerie! You must tell me your secret to using this pan! What have you made and how did you do it???? >
I love all your posts, Jenna, but this one is darling. Your creative talent in rhyme was delightful. I’m partial to aqua and you cleverly entertained us. I was smiling all the way.
You might kid about your snowman but I bet it tasted good.
Thanks Bonnie, I am determined to make something in this silly pan!

How fun! Loved that you showed us how your not-so-Frosty-the-snowman turned to ice and the poem you created is darling! The aqua with gold is not something I’d have thought of but it looks terrific!
I love the color aqua. The snowman is so darling. It makes for a lovely tablescape. Your blue striped flatware is so unique. Can I ask where you purchased it?
hi Marsha, I think I got it at Home Goods several years ago. I usually only source things that I’ve recently purchased and are still available. Thanks for stopping by! >
Such a beautiful tablescape Jenna. Love the aqua, so pretty and fresh. Your little cake was sad looking, but you saved the day when you showed it as an ice snowman. Thanks for linking up to Table It Link Party.
My cake was more than sad looking! Thanks Linda!! >
I love that runner. You make me swoon every time you use it. I love that you shared your cake “mistake” I need to share the pavlova fail I did. Your aqua snowman is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing over at Celebrate Your Story.
I’ve never tried pavlova, please share!! >
Oh, Lordy be, it’s nice to know even a pro like you can have a little mishap every now and then in the kitchen! ha!
You know I’m LOVING all those aqua goodies — a delight to my eyes!
Well, I don’t know about the pro part, but let me assure you, I have plenty of kitchen disasters! >
I love the poor shamed snowman… 🙂 Beautiful display!! Thanks for sharing at Table It!
Adorable post!
