Creations, Holiday Bucket Decoration
Mardi Gras decorations can be spotted everywhere along the Alabama Gulf Coast. The stores are full of wreaths, masks, and beads…jesters and feather boas…everywhere you look there is purple, gold and green…
I wanted to make a Mardi Gras decoration for my entry, not a wreath but something that would stand up to the coastal winds and salty air…something that would be heavy enough to sit on the porch…
I’m already thinking of ways I can easily transform this for Easter… 🐇
I made these “pumpkin” buckets for the fall and they worked great, but after a while in the salt air, the paint was peeling and they needed a makeover
I had some purple latex paint from Colorful Doors, and even though the color was lavender, I felt it might work once decorated
I filled the bucket with crunched up golden yellow mesh
A wire wreath form fit the top perfectly
Some ribbon loops
I found this cool mask for $5 at Walmart!
I added an ornament necklace, a purple saxophone [more Walmart] and began weaving mardi gras beads through the wreath wire form

Juicy Details
By removing the beads and Mardi Gras things, and changing out the ribbon, it will be easy to transform this into an Easter decoration. I can add a bunny, eggs and other Easter or spring items. A fast and easy project that can be used as a centerpiece, indoor or outdoor decor. All you need is a vessel and something to fill it up with, use your imagination and try using what you can find around the house, the sky’s the limit!
Materials list:
galvanized bucket or flower pot
colored mesh
colorful ribbon
wired wreath form [optional]
foil garland, ornaments, masks, figurines, dried fruit, flowers, toys
pipe cleaners or wires for securing decorations

Your Mardi Gras decoration is perfect and so creative for your doorway Jenna! So festive with beads, mesh ribbon and fleur de lis! Your Walmart must have a much better selection of items than ours given your location to laissez les bons temps rouler 🙂
