Fearless Friday, Bloom!

A recent post, Be Fearless! talked about the different ways people are creative, whether it’s in the kitchen, in the garden, an ability to teach or mentor, or an appreciative eye…and even though I am an artist, I have to remember to push myself too…
Starting today, Fearless Friday is going to be a weekly topic, featuring art and other fearless creations to stimulate your creativity and mine…
Edging out of your comfort zone is the only way to learn and grow…
Experiment…
and BLOOM!
“Bloom” was commissioned by a friend and is pictured unframed in her living room. It is currently being framed and will be hung directly above this sofa
Her house is gorgeous, and I was very flattered she asked me to paint for her
The secret to success is to study your subject first, do some sketches, and simply think about it
When I do acrylics, I try to paint quickly, keeping things fast and loose
It is also important to stop before you think you’re finished so you don’t overwork it. Live with your creation for a day or two, glancing at it occasionally, and then add a final touch or two if necessary
My personal fearless challenge is to explore new techniques and materials this summer, with the main focus on watercolor
Watercolor has always been a tricky medium for me, and definitely out of my comfort zone. I will share tips and tricks I discover, and show you ways to create your own masterpieces, even some without a paint brush…
Painting is just like everything else, practice, practice, practice. If you can do it everyday, just like exercising, even just for a few minutes, you will see results quickly
Juicy Details
I recently heard about an “Art of the Month Club” called Sketch Box. It’s kind of like taking a class with everything you need provided in the monthly box.
Every month you receive a box filled with artist quality supplies and instructions to recreate the inspiration artwork included in the box. This is a great way to learn, and to sample a lot of different materials and techniques without investing a lot of $
My favorite on line art supply sources are:
Alabama Art Supply online and locations in Birmingham & Mobile
If possible, use professional art supplies for quality results and invest in good brushes
This post has not been sponsored by any companies mentioned here, I am just sharing sources
Have fun and Be Fearless!
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Wow! This painting is all kinds of fabulous! I love it! You sure are blessed with an abundance of talent! ~Rhonda
So, so beautiful Jenna…I tried taking a watercolor class…I took two classes and had to drop out due to travel schedules…I loved it…
I hope you will do another class Shirley, it’s such a great way to get inspired and so much fun to paint with other artists! >
I have to tell you that as an artist I rarely find things that I love, but I do this painting! SERIOUSLY I am in love with it! So much so that I am going to have to try it… lately I have been trying new things (painting with stain and your fingers) and new mediums. I can’t wait to see what you do next. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Jenna, I am in love with the painting…wow it is stunning! You are a talented lady! I will be looking forward to your Friday posts and see what you do in watercolor!
Beautiful painting, so fun, creative, whimsical!
Love the Bloom and can’t wait to see more of your creative inspiration! I’m going tonight to the Eastern Shore Art Center where they have the touring American Watercolor Society Show. It’s always a fabulous collection!
This is quite fabulous! I do have some talented friends!
You are too much. I am fearless but not when it comes to art.
This is so beautiful and yes you are fearless. i would stress over it and fuss and carry on with every single detail instead of just going with the flow.Beautiful and unique in every way. I am hosting a new link party Sweet Inspiration, and would love it if you were to join us with your creation. It runs Friday till Tuesday.
What a stunning creation, Jenna! Absolutely beautiful piece of art. One of my very favorite books on creativity (and one I still refer to over and over to stay motivated creatively) is The Artist’s Way. Although I’m not a painter, creativity takes many forms. The essence of The Artist’s Way message is that creating is actually God-inspired and a spiritual journey — being creative feeds our souls and enriches others. I truly believe that! And I love the way you inspire us every day to be creative in our homes, in our cooking, in our family gatherings, and in our daily lives. You are truly living the creative life!
Your painting is awesome! Great job! I agree that going out of your comfort zone is definitely a great way to start new things and I too, many times need a push to do so! Thank you for sharing at Sweet Inspiration #5 !
Beautiful paint and so creative. Thanks for sharing about sketch Box. I keep saying I should take a class. Happy Mother’s day Jenna. xo
Beautiful Jenna! I know your friend was thrilled with her original painting to hang in her home! I hope you take a photo to share after it’s framed and hanging. My art days are long behind me with the camera as my preferred medium now but Sketch Box sounds fun. There’s a local company here called Wine and Canvas, their tag line is “the painting class with cocktails”…I’d be a lot more fearless, imbibing 🙂
Hello Jenna, wow I love this art work that you were commissioned to paint and the second watercolor. They are so beautiful. You are such a talented artist. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this at Cooking and Crafting with J & J.
Enjoy the week.
Julie xo

This is a fun painting! I want to learn more…I have dabbled a bit. sheila
Thanks Sheila!
wow, you make that look so simple! It is lovely and stunning.
What a wonderful painting. And I love the fearless Friday idea! I know I have to become more fearless in my art as well, it’s hard sometimes to let go and let the paint do the work for you.
Wow! You are truly talented my friend! That flower is stunning. I love all the colors and the way the paint dripped a bit too. Simply gorgeous!! It looks beautiful in your friend’s living room it matches perfectly with that lovely couch. Thank you for sharing with us at the Talented Tuesday Link Party! Have an amazing rest of the week, Kim
Beautiful! You’re very talented.
Thank you! >
You’re very inspiring Jenna and your work in beautiful! My husband has done a few paintings for us but that hobby has been replaced with multi-copters and his 3D printer, LOL! Thanks for sharing with us again this week at Celebrate Your Story.
Those 3 D printers just amaze me! The world is changing before our eyes! >
Bloom is beautiful! I am looking forward to your posts on this subject. You know I admire your creativity and feel that I’m seriously lacking in this category. Here’s the thing….when you aren’t terribly creative, it’s not always fear that stops you. It would not ever even occur to me to do some of the creative things I see others do. Wouldn’t even cross my mind!! You and others get my mind working in that direction more. 🙂
Stacey, you are selling yourself short! Just the fact that you are a blogger means you are very creative! I appreciate your support and please know I am inspired by you! >
I love this painting and I so enjoy all of your creative projects. Thanks so much for sharing them for all to see!
thank you Pat! >
Jenna, your bloom is gorgeous – and the perfect colors for over the sofa! And, yes! Overthinking it is ALWAYS what I do. I never stop soon enough, and then I suddenly realize I’ve gone over the line and ruined it. Ugh! We need to paint together so you can tell me to STOP NOW when the time is right. I love your whimsical style of painting…and, it always looks exactly right. I think mine would just look like a big mess. I like our current deal. I’ll sew. You’ll paint. There!
ha! I’ll take you up on that! >
Your vision was perfect! I know your friend is very happy because it looks wonderful over her sofa.
Just amazing.
Thank you Bonnie, luckily she did love it! >
