Fearless Friday, Portable Studio & Watercolor Bouquet
Are you ready to paint today?
I can be ready in a snap with my portable art cart
It sleeps on the porch tucked back by the window where it doesn’t even get wet if we have a summer shower
It can be rolled into place in a jiffy
My rectangular plastic palette sits on a Arches Cold Press Watercolor paper pad atop a desk top easel box
I keep a towel and fresh water on the cart too
Have 2 bowls of water, one for clean {blue jar} and one for rinsing brushes to {larger plastic tub}. The clean water jar inside the rinsing tub is convenient and a space saver
The wooden box holds all my supplies, paints, brushes, sponges, masking tape and making fluid, q-tips {great for sopping up extra water} right at my finger tips
The top can be adjusted to any angle for an instant easel
I keep my color chart close by for reference and use a plastic palette with a tight lid for storage
Everything is all tucked onto the cart, including pastel sets
There’s always a cool breeze and a dreamy view

A little help from Waterlogue
I didn’t photograph the steps, but you can see that the white flowers were created by painting the background around them and adding some shadows onto the white paper to define their shape
I did it in two short sessions for a loose fresh feel, then added some sharp details with watercolor markers*
If you can create a space to paint, whether it’s a room, a corner, a closet or a shelf… then when you have an extra few minutes or a spontaneous urge, you are ready to go!

thanks Jodi! I gradually ended my JMdesigns business a few years ago so I could paint for myself and explore other things. My husband retired in October and since Jan, I haven’t been able to get him away from the coast! I go back and forth as my real studio is in Birmingham, but I’m getting pretty used to the lazy coastal life- >

I think being organized and having a good place with good light is half the battle in painting. You’ve definitely got the talent part covered, and now I see why you are so successful!
