Take-out Tuesday, Bursting Berries

Two for one Tuesday!
These recipes are so embarrassing unbelievably easy
They are super super shortcut versions of summer favorites, Strawberry Pie and Berry Cobbler
They deliver big berry flavor with very little effort, so they are perfect for when you’re exhausted the cook’s day off
Strawberry Pie Sticks, 2 ingredients and a pastry wheel!
Slow Cooker Berry Cobbler, 3 ingredients and a slow cooker!
For the pie sticks, simply roll out raw pie dough crust, cut it in half and spread with filling {you might have some leftover}, then top, crimp outer edges, and cut into sticks with a fluted pastry wheel
The secret to making the Strawberry Pie Sticks is not to spread them out for baking
Leaving them close together helps keep the filling from spreading too much, so you don’t have to crimp the inside edges before baking
Please please use parchment paper!
These are a big hit with little hands
The cobbler is just as easy, place pie filling in bottom of slowcooker, cover with cake mix, and drizzle with melted butter
The magic happens in just 3-4 hours!
Here are the recipes

Strawberry Pie Sticks
Ingredients
- 1 raw refrigerated pie dough round
- 1 can strawberry pie filling
- 1 egg beaten, optional
Instructions
- Roll dough out to increase diameter about 1 inch on a piece of parchment paper. Cut dough in half. Spread an even layer of pie filling over half dough leaving 1/4″ around edge. You might have a little filling leftover.
- Top with remaining dough half and crimp edges with fork to seal. Transfer paper to baking sheet.
- Cut dough with a fluted pastry cutter into sticks, but leave the sticks together in the original formation. Brush dough with egg wash if desired.
- Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until dough is golden. Transfer paper to counter and let cool. Store sticks covered at room temperature.

Slow Cooker Berry Cobbler
Equipment
- slow cooker
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla white or yellow cake mix
- 2 cans about 21 oz. each pie filling {I used blueberry and cherry}
- 4 T unsalted butter melted
Instructions
- Spray slow cooker with cooking spray. Add pie filling. Top with dry cake mix. Pour melted butter over dry mix. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
Enjoy!

p.s. I noticed that you’re enjoying Michael Lee’s series, too. Great, isn’t it?
thanks Kitty, I seem to be getting lazier and lazier in the kitchen! Yes, her series is very thought provoking…I used to do a daily gratitude and got out of the habit and am trying to get back to it, it really makes a huge difference~ >
I’m going to have to try those pie sticks. If I’d read this recipe in time, I would have made it for book club last night. Live and learn! Thanks!
Hi Jenna,
I hope you are not going to make me choose just one because of course I want to try both. What a great idea and so packed with flavor. I sure appreciate you sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday. Have a great week and come back soon!
