Tablescapes, “Prickled Pink!”

Welcome to the annual Celebrate & Decorate

Springtime Tablescape Blog Hop!

I am “Prickled Pink” today to be joining the fun!

Be sure to visit everyone, at the links below, throughout the week

for inspiration and incredible Spring eye candy!

I am head over heels about cactus for some reason

And green cactus paired with pink is perfect for the Spring season!

The frayed napkin edges mimic the cactus prickles

The whole time I was setting this table, I was really so tickled!

It’s flirty and fun

You can almost feel the sun!

And winter is almost DONE!

Juicy Details

pink rose paper wreath, pink speckled plates, and large faux plant/HomeGoods

small faux cactus pots/World Market

cactus glasses/tutorial below

all other elements I have had for a long time

The mini cactus pots make a cute party favor

To paint glassware, you will need paint specifically for glass that is curable, which makes it permanent

I used dark green and yellow.  Load a little of each color on a #6 round brush, and let the colors mix and blend as you paint the cactus shapes.  Cacti are funky, so any shape or shapes you paint will work.

Once paint is dry, go back and add a few flowers. I used a little pink, orange and red paint, for a slight color variation, and dabbed in on with a quick stroke

Use a fine liner brush to add the “prickles,” I painted these black, but you could use orange, brown or white, anything goes!

Once the paint has dried for 24 hours, cure {bake in oven} according to paint directions.  The glasses now are waterproof and top rack dishwasher safe

Psst…yesterday I was in Pier 1 and they have very similar painted cactus glasses! I swear, I thought my idea was so original, but anyway, if you don’t want to paint cactus you can buy glasses at Pier 1!

Thank you for your visit!

I am “Prickled Pink” you stopped by!

Jenna, You’re a bundle of energy, creativity and originality and I’m always ‘prickled pink’ to visit and see what you’re fearlessly painting or baking! I love the splash of pink, black and green together. Polka dots are such a happy pattern to me no matter what the season and I’ll never look at cactus the same way again! 😉 It’s always a treat to have a virtual seat at your table and blog hop with you. ♥

Flirty and fun is a perfect description of this table, Jenna! And I thought the paper rose wreath was a cake until I read your words! Witty, whimsical, and always something artfully creative is what I’ve come to expect on your tables, and you never disappoint. Now, serve up some spring, will ya? Send it on up from the South, please.

  3. Pink and green is one of my favorite combos. Don’t call me a preppie — but I love it! This table is really beautiful.

  4. Very cute. I am not really a fan of cactus, but your pink and green is really fresh.

  5. Jenna, this is definitely a fun and flirty table. I am a color loving girl and you gave me the perfect dose this morning…pink and green with a splash of polka dots. The paper rose wreath really amps up the cactus. You have such creativity and I always look forward to what you are up to. It is always fun to sit at your table, not only for its decor, but you always have a new recipe to share!

Jenna, your table has me smiling from ear to ear!! What a fun, energizing table! Love the whole theme and color pallet, especially the polka dots. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial on the cactus stemware, they are adorable. I always enjoy your creativity, it’s a joy to hop with you!!

  7. Wow what a cute and creative springtime table you created! Love the pink rose paper wreath with the cactus plant standing in the center! I am envious of your artistic talents to paint the stemware and those potted cactus made for a cute accent! The fringed napkins do resemble the prickle of the cactus! Hoping it warms up here soon so we can actually experience spring soon!

  8. Bonnie Morgan says:

Very fun and creative tablescape but that’s always the case at your house. I love the colors you used and adding the touch of black polka dots is so cute. The cactus added an element of surprise and whimsy.
My birthday is in March and I had a lot of pink and green birthday themes as a child. Thanks for the memories I had forgotten.
You have so much fun painting and your excitement is endearing. The Painted Apron is such an apropos name for your blog because you paint and cook all the time.
I always enjoy your rhymes too.

  9. Another amazing tablescape Jenna. Your talent always brings elements of surprise. The cactus glasses are so darned cute, especially for someone from the SW (New Mexico I mean, not SW Florida) LOL . This table makes me smile first thing in the morning. Polka dots are happy dots if you ask me. Some Home Goods have so many cute things, but mine here in Florida (I think) only has the left overs that don’t sell in other stores, because I never see all the pretty, unique things you gals come up with. 🙁 Anyway your table is adorable and I am prickled pink to sit at your virtual table. Hugs

    • I am shocked to hear that about your HomeGoods, I have to be very strict with myself about going there because I always buy things, and in Birmingham there are 2 near me so it’s twice as hard! You’re right, polka dots are happy dots!

  10. Sharon Mann says:

I love pink and green together…very creative ideas.

  11. Marsha says:

Jenna, it is so nice to see cactus get the limelight in tablescape decorating. I think of warm climates when I see your lovely table. It has a bit of retro or Art Deco feel to it. I love the black and pink combination and the added elements of green. It certainly makes me think of the tropics. Your cactus wine glasses are perfect for the table.

  12. Cecilia says:

I love your darling cactus theme and the colors are perfect! Happy to be joining you for the tablescape hop this week! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  13. Benita says:

Jenna, your table is adorable! I love the cactus with the pink and black! So original! Your painting skills rock! What is the centerpiece surrounding your cactus? I love it and those flowers are so pretty! Have a great one! Hugs!

  14. What can I say… the colors pink and green make my heart go pitter patter. And your gorgeous table makes it go twice as fast. Absolutely stunning, Jenna. Have a great week.

  15. Jodi says:

pink and green – so dreamy! Love your creativity! I’ve been thinking pink lately too! A pink tulip painting for tomorrow 🙂 Did you survive ok with all the bad weather and tornadoes in Alabama?

    • thank you Jodi, we are not close to the affected area, which was near the Georgia line in eastern Alabama. The part of Birmingham where I live is quite hilly, which tornadoes don’t like, but you never know…it’s always tremendously scary, another bad night is predicted for Saturday. Thank you for your concern…

  16. Debbee says:

Jenna what a unique and wonderful springtime tablescape — delightful! Cactus just doesn’t compute with spring here in PIttsburgh, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to be in your neck of the woods this time of year. I’m a big fan of black and white, and the added punch of pinks and greens is so fun. Very clever and effective use of those napkins too. Thanks for the glass painting tutorial. I love hand-painting glasses and am always on the lookout for a new project.

  17. Sandra Garth says:

You are so clever and creative! It’s time for me to upcycle some of my glasses so the tutorial is right on time. I love the theme and the color palette, definitely spring and lots of fun.

  18. Chloe Crabtree says:

What a cute and creative way to welcome Spring!! Your cactus wine glasses are so cute and I love the polka dot plates! I am crushing on everything pink, so all of your pink accents are just perfect! Thanks for joining us for another hop!

Love your poetry and your fun table, Jenna! Your goblets are so pretty, and the cactus as a take-home gift is the best!

  20. Michelle says:

These colors together are perfect! Maybe you can sell your cactus glasses to Pier 1. 😀

  21. I love your Spring table Jenna! Those hand painted cacti glasses are fabulous! You are one talented lady! The paper rose wreath works perfectly in the center of the table. Happy Spring!

Jenna, you are so original to use cactus for your Spring table! I love the pink and green color scheme you chose with the pops of black. The centerpiece is so cute! I’ve been planning to try making paper roses, and I love how this wreath uses excelsior moss as a base. What a cute idea to offer your guests a cactus as a favor! Always a pleasure to hop with you. Happy Spring!

    • Thank you Rebecca, I can’t imagine making paper roses, that sounds hard…I feel in love with this wreath the second I saw it, love the excelsior moss…have fun with your project!

  23. Linda says:

The wreath centerpiece is gorgeous. I would love to be a guest at this beautiful spring table! Sorry, I am so late commenting. I have been a little under the weather. I love your painted glasses, this inspires me to paint some glasses. Your Pink tablescape is wonderful, pink and black are always great together! Hope you have a great week and thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday!
    Miz Helen

    • thank you Miz Helen, I used to paint things for gift shops, and I was painting 7 days a week! I “retired” in 2012 so I could do other things, but I still have fun doing it for myself and friends…have fun!

  27. I am “Prinkled Pink” with your beautiful table Jenna!!….I so love the color combination of pink, white and black!…the faux cactus is a most beautiful surprise at each setting….what a most creative theme for the table!…Love, love it!

  28. Carol says:

Jenna, I would never have thought of cactus, but it definitely means warmer weather and I am all for that. Love the pink centerpiece mixed with the black and pink dishes. I love to stencil glasses with ChalkArt so I can remove the design when I want to reuse the glasses for a different tablescape. You are really the artist!

  29. Okay, that’s it! I need to move closer to you because I want one of those cactus pots! So cute, and I am totally into cacti and succulents these days. Your table is gorgeous and, boy, do I have some newly acquired dishes that would fit right into this color scheme.Beautiful, as always!

    • I agree! I often wish you were my neighbor, we would have fun borrowing and sharing! I really tried hard not to buy cactus plates, I will be drooling over yours I am sure…I did buy some small ones on sale at Pier 1 the other day, so there will be more cactus tables in the future…thanks Pattie! 🌵💕
