Creations, Beachy Bird Houses

Are you in the mood for a craft or project?

Let us inspire you!

Now that we can’t run to the Dollar Store or Hobby Lobby,

take a close look around your house…

You are bound to find some things to transform!

I’ve had these sweet painted birdhouses for years,

see them perched on the top shelf in far right corner?

Glancing at them the other day I got an idea…

Inspired by MacKenzie-Childs bird houses,

It was time for a makeover!!

I decided to make them a little funkier,

and group them with a MacKenzie-Childs cake stand,

fish dish, and MKC inspired mini cake dome

I gathered craft supplies,

paint, glue gun, towels

Seashells, trinkets and assorted beads and glass from my “bling box”

And started gluing!

I embellished the sand dollar with a marker

and glued more shells to the bottom

This one got a pretty Junonia shell and sea glass

Glass beads for polka dots

hmmm, now the roofs…

Time for some paint!

The roofs got checks and stripes

the sides got glass beads and ombre waves

The other sides got a big sand dollar, a surf board and stripes

The green house got a row of tulips and striped eaves,

the others sported polka dots

And they’re done!

A sweet little bird house beach town!

I  have been self distancing at our beach house the past  5 weeks,

beautiful Spring weather, and sea breezes so good to soothe the soul…

And a bright and happy vignette on the table!

I hope you are safe, healthy,

and staying busy, enjoying things you can do at home…

Jenna, those are adorable! I love the one with the grass and lifesaver at the entry door, but they all look so cute together in a vignette. Love your catchy crafty name, “bling box”.

  3. Jenna, those are the cutest birdhouses dressed for beach living! I wish I had a “bling box.” I know you are enjoying beach time. Stay safe today!

They were super cute before but I also love the fun and whimsy of the makeover. A cheery sight for sore eyes. Great job.

  6. I went through my birdhouse period and they were such fun. I wonder if I have any left. Oh, that would mean going into the dreaded closet. Maybe I should… my social calendar is so full these days! (NOT!) They’re darling.

Your bird houses turned out so cute! I’m always afraid to get birds because I feel like my cats will eat them but these are so cute with no birds.

  17. Pattie says:

What a timely post! I just discovered an unpainted birdhouse when I was cleaning out the garage recently. I think that it must have once been my mother’s. It must have found its way here after dad passed away and we were cleaning out the house. At any rate, yet again, you have provided much inspiration!

  18. Kitty says:
