Creations, Fall Floral Candlesticks

I wrote this post on Tuesday

while I was trying not to worry about Hurricane Sally

The first photos of our damage are the end of the post if you want a peek

Prayers to everyone battling this storm

🌻

Now let’s have some decorating fun!

These candlesticks were inspired by this Fall Fest Candle Stand

from my favorite Mackenzie-Childs

I decided not use pumpkins or ribbon, just fall flowers

My first thought was to make a garland

that could be tied around the candlesticks

but since these candlesticks are made with an open metal design,

I wove the wire stems in and around the design

I’ve had these candlesticks for a long time,

and have always loved them

I felt they would be perfect to decorate for fall

I gathered up some craft supplies, and started playing

I ordered the faux sunflowers, zinnias, peonies, and mums from Amazon

I cut the stems with wire cutters

and placed them in and around the metal design

A quick candlestick makeover

and the flowers can easily be removed

and used for something else in the future

I have really enjoyed fall decorating this year,

it’s helping me keep my mind off of all the chaos in the world,

especially hurricanes… 😢

Juicy Details

The faux flowers are from Amazon,

I can’t provide the exact links for the sunflower bouquet and the mums

because they are no longer available

They do have similar flowers here and here

Peonies {which I didn’t use, but am saving for another project} here

Thank you all for your words and prayers about Hurricane Sally, we lost our pier, small boat, and our big boat is in our neighbor’s yard. We had roof damage, but no leaks so far and pool and deck are fine, we feel pretty lucky and grateful it’s not worse

You can kind of see the roof damage in the 2 photos below

Our boat [on the right] washed ashore along with a charter boat in our neighbors yard

Our boat actually looks pretty good, but who knows how we’re going to get it out of there…there are literally hundreds of boats stranded all over Orange Beach and the flooding is wide spread

HHjr, NG and a family friend are headed down today to put tarps on our roof and fix whatever they can…it’s going to be a long time before this is paradise again… Thank you for your prayers, we were lucky…

My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by the hurricane. So glad your lovely home is not too heavily damaged. Most important is that you and your family are safe.

Love your candlestick makeover Jenna! Flowers and crafting are good for the soul when you need a distraction. I’ve been watching videos on the flooding from Sally and since yesterday, and the remnants are headed our way today so we’re staying in and off the roads. I’m so sorry about the damage to your pier, boat and roof. 🙁 I hope your son & SIL are able to safely secure your roof until repairs can be made. We used Flex Seal to temporarily patch our roof several years ago until we were able to line up a contractor to replace it. It worked like a charm to keep us dry and the rain and snow from doing further damage. ♥

  3. Beautiful candle stand makeover, Jenna, I am so very sorry about your boat, pier, and roof. The photos and videos that I have seen are heartbreaking. It will take time to recover on our beautiful Alabama Coast, but I know it will. I am praying for all that have been impacted by Sally and I am praying for you ♥️

  4. Awful devastation, so glad you weren’t there as Sally went through. I’ve been doing some Autumn decorating too, looking forward to cooler weather and Autumn Jubilee.

I am glad you are keeping busy with beautiful and fun projects. Love those candleholders! Hopefully you have a full report now on conditions down south. It’s a good thing you only lost shingles and not the roof. So sorry for all the damage, the dock and boats. Unbelievable all the damage in GS’s and OB. Hope R has a good trip and can get everything secured until you get the repair work started. Y’all take care………..

    • Thanks Emily, they just left with a truck full of supplies, they even have to take water as the water is shut off to the area, awful conditions…trying to stay busy, but I am drained…

  6. Julie says:

I am so sorry for the damage to the dock, your home, and boat from the storm. Good luck to your son and crew with fixing whatever they can. You decorated the candle sticks so nice and decorating is a great way to keep your mind occupied. Take care and be safe.

Jenna, grateful that your home is standing and hopefully without much damage. I know you are concerned and eager to know how things inside look. Hopefully your boat can be retrieved and repaired. Yes, rebuilding your beautiful paradise will take a lot of time and effort. Our Gulf Coastal communities are still rebuilding after Harvey. Good luck as you and your neighbors move forward together. It takes a village! Hugs sent your way!

    • Thank you Sarah, we have so many friends who have stepped up to help us, we are so grateful to have another place to live but still its so hard to see a place we all love so much so damaged. It will take a village, but unfortunately we’ve been through it before and all we need is time and hard work.

  8. I’m so sorry that you had the damage that you did but grateful as it could have been so much worse. We lived in Key Largo through Andrew and know that it will definitely take time for your area to get back to that wonderful “paradise” that you all love so much but it will. In the meantime keep making your beautiful projects to keep you mind off things, you, your friends and neighbors are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was relieved to see your post this morning. I have been so worried about you these past few days. So sorry to see the damage Sally left you with. I know that your family will pull together and make your paradise what is once was. I love your candlesticks! It’s good to distract yourself right now. I’m sending hugs and support from afar for you, Jenna. You’re in my thoughts. Take care.

Beautiful candlesticks, Jenna. Very sorry to hear about all the damage. So glad that you and your family are safe. Sending love and prayers your way. 💚

  12. Oh Jenna, I suppose, as you said, it could be worse. But wow. Just seeing what was happening in your area was frightening and I’m glad you weren’t there. It will be a job, for sure but i’m glad that the interior wasn’t damaged and so far, no leaks — let’s keep it that way. Your family is strong and they are smart and they will figure out how to get things fixed, boats back in place, hopefully with no bottom or other damage to motors or otherwise. Big hearts going out to you as you and your family move forward on the next steps — repair and rehab and getting back “home.”

  13. Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors says:

Jenna, I have been thinking about you. I’m so sorry that you are having to go through this. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been affected by the hurricane. On a happier note, your autumn candlesticks are beautiful! I think they are prettier than the MC ones. Take care, sweet friend!

  14. Bonnie Morgan says:

Jenna, I have been praying for you and all those affected by Hurricane Sally. I have been wondering how you faired. Thanks for letting us know.
I am sorry for the loss of your little boat and your pier and roof damage. Glad for help to go with your son. Knowing you they were sent off with ample food and supplies. We will be praying for their safety and getting there to begin the work.
Your fall floral candlesticks are very cute.
    Please keep us updated.

  15. Sandra Magle says:

so glad you are safe and sound, boats and roofs are replaceable, people and pets are not! Cute Fall project….I used to sell tons of decorated candlesticks in my shop—such a fun project and takes up so little space! Hugs, Sandi

  16. Ricki Treleaven says:

I am truly so sorry about your storm damage. I am thankful that you are safely home in Birmingham.

Your creations are so pretty. You are inspiring me to take the time to make some lovely fall decor. I still haven’t even taken out any fall decor. I’ve been too busy with other projects!

  17. Cyndi Raines says:

Lovely candlesticks, I like the combination of the metal and wood, such pretty fall, colorful flowers. So very sorry to see all the damage you have suffered, but thankful you all are safe. With your handy son and his crew they will get busy and get you fixed up in no time (prayerfully). Hope no real damage to the bottom of your boat or the motors and just maybe you will be able to locate your smaller boat. I have an Aunt in Pensacola, an Aunt in Largo and a cousin in Dunedin, so you all and California are still in my prayers. ♥️🛐

    • Thank you so much Cyndi, so much destruction everywhere right now, it’s hard to wrap your mind around it! We will be fine, just takes time…Fall decor is cheering me up and bringing me hope!

  18. Marilyn says:

Those candlesticks are so pretty. A great addition to fall decorating.
