Tablescapes, Snowmen & Starfish

I must admit I was apprehensive…

in fact I wasn’t even sure I wanted to go to the beach house at all…

The last time we came, it was a series of disasters,

and I just didn’t know how much more I could handle…

BUT!

Santa did bring us a new “sleigh” for Christmas…

and the boys couldn’t wait to get it in the water

Everybody took the week off,

and traditionally we spend the week after Christmas and New Years on the coast…

So we all scrambled around the day after Christmas

putting away decorations and then headed South

We arrived to sunshine, blue skies, and everything was working!

The tarps on the roof were in place, the house was clean and dry,

and I suddenly remembered why I love this place so much!

🙏

We’re still waiting for the roof and the pier to be repaired

but I’m going to take a page out of the pelican’s book…

Just enjoy!

{Look closely, you’ll see them sitting on top of the tallest pilings}

I couldn’t wait to “play” with some of my winter things

Christmas in the “city” was freezing!

We were able to have our Christmas family gathering by the fire on the patio,

It was very short and informal, everyone was bundled up

The adults drank a quick Bloody Mary,

and the kids munched on Reindeer Food

and then all went on their merry way

We are thoroughly enjoying the warmer temps and sunshine on the coast

And the beautiful change of scenery!

The recent chilly temps brought my snowman candle to mind,

and starfish are the coastal interpretation of snowflakes

I hope you are enjoying this last week of 2020

and are looking forward to 2021!

  1. Jenna, the new sleigh is a wonderful gift from Santa. I am so thrilled that your lovely home was dry and everything worked out for you to spend time at the beach. Christmas Day was really cold, I can see why you all didn’t linger long outside. I love your happy table and the snowman candle…the plates are perfect! Enjoy your week!

  2. How fun!! I hope you have a ball this week with your new ‘sleigh’!! Fun tables too.

    What a wonderful getaway, and best way to start the new year – with sunshine, a new sleigh, starfish, and that kind of snowflake! Happy for you to be in a place that brings you joy, Jenna. I got my Christmas decor put away within 2 days after Christmas, alongside my 2 sisters’ annual tradition who always went to FL right after Christmas. Obviously, no travel for them this year, but it still feels good to start the new year with a clean slate, ESPECIALLY this year!

    • Thanks so much Rita, I hated to rush to take things down, and did leave wintery touches around…I agree, it is a great feeling to get things “back in order” I’m sorry your sisters can’t travel this year…Happy New Year!

    How adorable is your table???? Love it! You all will enjoy your new sleigh gliding through that water. Beach house sounds just lovely to me. My happy place for sure is at the beach. Hoping my little next adventure takes me to the mountains though. THEN,,,,I will be ready for the beach. Happy New Year to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    How perfect! May the new year bring all the best for you and your family!

  6. It looks wonderful, Jenna — and it had to feel so good to be back, see that water, and yes, even though there is still the roof to deal with, it’s buttoned up and didn’t affect the joy of your holiday. How fun with the new sleigh and I love your table! That snowflake china is the best!

    Going south sounds wonderful! I’m happy you decided to go and enjoy. Blue skies and lapping water would make anyone feel better. Nice sleigh for getting around too. I’m in love with the snowflake plates, just perfect for the season………Happy New Year Jenna!

    Oh Jenna, So glad you have enjoyed your visit to the Coast without major mishaps. This year has been a struggle all the way around and one, no one is likely to forget. So glad that we can trust in our Heavenly Father, knowing that He is always in complete control. Soak up some warm weather and wonderful AL sunshine and let His peace flood over you. Praying 2021 will be a good year for everyone.

    Your porch and table look WONDERFUL, so inviting, with a view to match! You absolutely made the right decision to travel to such a paradise. Bet the family can’t wait for a “sleigh ride”! Enjoy, Jenna, and best wishes for a Happy New Year and its promise of a new beginning!

    So glad your coastal nest is dry and safe, and that you managed a small “escape” from the usual. That sleigh is perfect and I can envision you and your family in the summer sun. Here’s wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year! Can’t imagine a year ahead without your uplifting contributions. Georgia Gal
    If you will forgive the length I would like to share A Thanksgiving Poem by Robert Louis Stevenson, but I think of it at the beginning of each new year and it seemed most appropriate for your family:

    Lord, behold our family here assembled.
    We thank Thee for this place in which we dwell;
    for the love that unites us;
    for the peace accorded us this day;
    for the hope with which we expect the morrow;
    for the health, the work, the food, and the bright skies,
    that make our lives delightful;
    and for our friends in all parts of the earth.
    Let peace abound in our small company.
    Purge out of every heart the lurking grudge.
    Give us grace and strength to forbear and to persevere.
    Give us the grace to accept and to forgive offenders.
    Forgetful ourselves, help us to bear cheerfully
    the forgetfulness of others.
    Give us courage and gaiety and the quiet mind.
    Spare to us our friends, soften to us our enemies.
    Bless us, if it may be, in all our innocent endeavors.
    If it may not, give us the strength to encounter
    that which is to come,
    that we be brave in peril, constant in tribulation,
    temperate in wrath,
    and in all changes of fortune, and, down to the gates of death,
    loyal and loving one to another.
    Robert Louis Stevenson

    Jenna so glad you all could be together and especially enjoying your beautiful beach house and awesome sleigh! I smiled when I saw your snowflake plates alongside the starfish. You’ve got the best of both, just the right amount of snow, hehe and lots of sunshine and beautiful water. My husband would love your idea of winter, he really hates winter in Michigan. Lol Maybe by next winter, we will be able to spend a few weeks in beautiful Florida! Happy New Year! 🥂
