Tablescapes, Tropical Summer Buffet

When August rolls around and Summer begins to slide into Fall,
I try to hold on to Summer for as long as I can with tropical decor

Out come the flamingos, pineapples, and palm trees

We always have a buffet for dinner
and I keep the island ready for easy serving and snack grabbing

The end of the island that separates the kitchen from the great room
is raised and it the perfect place for seasonal decor

This is the “Snack Station” part of the buffet
Hungry hands can grab crackers, nuts, or cookies from jars
and put them in a colorful tub or on a plate

This not only keeps traffic out of the kitchen,
but the jars keep a variety of goodies fresh for literally weeks,
so when we are going back and forth to the city
they can be left here waiting until we come back

The palm leaf salad bowl sits ready to be filled for dinner
and I try to keep something sweet and tasty
in the palm tree painted cake dome

A stack of tropical melamine plates sits on a petaled pink and yellow place mat

A Nora Fleming utensil caddy with a blue crab holds serving pieces

Another Nora Fleming flatware caddy with a tropical fish
flanks the plate stack on the other side
The end of the island has space for a cutting board
and plenty of room for platters of food when serving

Tropical glasses are ready for a glass of wine or a Pineapple Cocktail

School starts for my grands
next week so that really makes it feel like summer is over…
but our temps will remain high until October
so I’m holding onto Summer as long as I can!

I will be joining these fabulous parties and blogs:

Jenna, you are so smart to keep everything ready for snacks, appetizers, drinks, and meals. With coming and going at the beach, I am sure organization is most important. I just love the tropical and beach theme, you do it so well. Happy Sunday!
Thanks Pam, staying organized really helps keep things relaxing and enjoyable!
You have so many wonderful stuff, Jenna. I love this tropical summer theme..our summer this year is a disaster…I haven’t even used the fan yet and I still wear my long pulli..
Oh dear, where do you live Angie?
I thing you have a great system to keep your kitchen running efficiently and beautifully! Your attention to detail and organization makes for fun summer entertaining. Love the fun tropical theme and you have the perfect summer house to enjoy it. Connor has already started school so like you I feel summer slipping away. Have a wonderful Sunday…….
Thank you Emily, I love to decorate the island with different themed decor, and it makes meal time so easy too. I can’t believe Connor has already started school, mine start today and Wednesday…
I knew you were creative but now I know you are smart too! Keeping snack in the jars and easily available for all …is SMART!

I have been taking a blogging break and intended to post that I was! Oh well- I had good intentions.
I’m not ready to see summer go yet either and our weather certainly hangs on as you know.
You always inspire, Jenna.
Thanks so much Bonnie, enjoy your break!

Jenna, your tropical decor is so pretty and perfect for summer! I’m like you in wanting to hold onto summer for as long as I can. I love the idea of having a snack station. I’m going to borrow this idea. Happy Tuesday!
The snack station really works great and the jars keep everything so fresh! Thanks Shannon!
So fun and festive Jenna! The ‘real feel’ yesterday was 102 degrees and I about had heat stroke as I was watering the garden as things are getting ‘crispy’. I’m ready to kick summer to the curb. 🙂
Thanks Mary, I love summer when I’m at the beach, but coming home to the city this week it’s so much hotter, ugh! Try to keep cool…
Love your tropical buffet. The colorful dishes are so fun. Looks so organized too. I bet the family loves visiting. Buffet are my favorite for entertaining. People can help themselves.
Thanks Linda, buffets make feeding a crowd so easy, and having snacks readily available in jars is so much better than having open bags of chips or boxes of cookies and crackers laying around.
We sure enjoyed featuring your awesome post this week on Full Plate Thursday,550!Thanks so much for sharing with us and come back to see us soon!
