Fearless Friday, Spring Fever

Here we are at the end of February

and I have a bad case of Spring Fever!

Are you seeing any signs of Spring in your neighborhood?

I’ve been spotting daffodils, forsythia and budding trees

With daffodils on my mind I went to Pixabay for a photo inspiration

Bright yellow and blue bring instant warmth and sunshine 🌞

Let’s draw this beautiful daffodil!

First a pencil sketch

Pick a start point and draw shape by shape

Once you’re satisfied with your sketch,

you can ink over it with a waterproof liner pen

and erase the pencil

If you want to color along there is a free printable here

Select the markers you want to use

I always refer to my color charts

then test them on the margin of my paper

for quick reference

keeping the pens lined up in order of marks

I started with the lightest areas

Then I decided to do the darkest areas

When you study your subject, and really look at it,

you will realize that a simple yellow daffodil

is made up of many tones and colors

depending on the light, shadows, and surrounding elements

Next I concentrated on the mid tones

And added more lights

Green stem

Time for some blue skies

The deep blue really makes the yellow pop!

I added a few more lines to the petals for texture

“Spring Fever” 7″ x 10″ marker on mixed media paper

Have some coloring fun and

Be Fearless!

  7. Hi, Jenna, I really love the Daffy, but most I love your reference sheet for your markers…I need to make one for several of my products (paint pens, paints, inks, etc.) Great idea! Happy Spring—we just got 5 more inches of snow this morning—oh well…LOL., Sandi

I love daffodils! They’re a favorite flower of mine, and I love yours! 😀
I haven’t seen much forsythia or anything blooming yet, but I actually did see several daffodils in our neighborhood yesterday. But then again, I’m not getting out much, LOL!

This is a great post for today. We are definitely having cabin fever en mi casa! No daffodils, but a lovely bouquet of red roses that my husband bought pre-snow/ice storm. It is almost nice enough to go out today for a bit, but the temps are below freezing and the sidewalks are still covered with snow with ice underneath. My larger dog was so funny trying to get from the patio to the backdoor. His four paw drive wasn’t working well. So, I’m hoping…one more day! Thanks for the breath of spring air!

Oh the daffy dilly against the blue sky is perfect! I miss them but will buy them when they come to the grocery store.
Thank you for the breath of fresh air!
