Every Spring I fall in love with tulips all over again…
There is something about Spring tulips
that just makes my heart sing,
and I love to fill my home with them
For Easter I wanted to have tulips on the kitchen island
as the centerpiece for our lunch buffet
I got purple and pink/orange tulips
and put them in a vase tied with coordinating ribbons
I did buy them early in the week,
and kept them in the refrigerator for a couple of days,
and then on Thursday before Easter I trimmed them
and put them out, hoping they would open up
and be perfect for Easter Sunday…
Saturday night they looked great, but Sunday morning…
Oh my!
“Why are your tulips falling over?” asked HHjr…
“Hey Gigi, what happened to your flowers?” asked Big E
What to do?!?
Luckily just then, DD and her family arrived …
And~
Charlie Brown had an armful of tulips for me!
Perfect, fresh tulips to the rescue!
I trimmed them and stuck them right in with their droopy cousins
and the centerpiece was saved!
Over the course of the next few days,
I had so much fun watching them dance and change…
Everyday they seemed to get bigger and crazier!
I think the thing I like best about tulips
is that they seem to have their own free will,
you can arrange them anyway you like,
but they won’t stay that way!

Jenna, I loved the crazy stage of the tulips. I learned if you put a penny in the vase the tulips stand up straight. Of course, you will miss the messy, beautiful stage if you do this.

Hi! I love the look of open, droopy tulips! They take on a personality all their own at that stage. Maybe because I’m in the “autumn of my life” and getting to be a bit droopy myself.😉 You’ve captured the look beautifully in your “Reflections” painting of tulips not perfectly closed. I love it! 🌷 Tulips are such a happy, versatile bloom, and I enjoy using them year round in arrangements. There’s just something special about Spring that makes me want to go wild, and I see you feel the same!

Your tulip painting is lovely. I too love tulips but have never had much luck with keeping them fresh and ALIVE for very long! LOL! My oldest daughter buys fresh flowers weekly and places them on her kitchen counter. We both love fresh bougets. I hope your week is wonderful to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks so much Cindy, yes, tulips seem to have a shorter life span than other flowers, but this time of year they are very inexpensive so I love to indulge…fresh flowers make such a difference in how your house feels!

Your fluffy tulips are spectacular, standing up or drooping down. I rather like it when they have that droop (especially with the tall ones in the middle.) They’re one of my favorites, too — bet you can’t guess why! COLOR! So many colors and it doesn’t matter what you mix together (loved your combo) — they’re all good. I really loved every photo!

I always love when my tulips pop up in the spring. They are colorful and cheerful. Yours looks so pretty. I read somewhere that a little sugar and a little white vinegar in the water will help prolong the life of flower.

So pretty Jenna, droopy cousins and all! Tulips grow in the vase and reach towards the light and it’s fun to watch the transformation. I searched out pre-1982 pennies to experiment with the copper in the water trick and it didn’t work for me. Best to trim them and change the water often. I’m smitten with your MKC tulipiere! ♥
