Welcome Home Painted Birdhouse

Welcome to the May monthly Creative Craft Hop!
Thank you Donna from Modern on Monticello for hosting

Welcome friends, readers,
and visitors from Decorate and More with Tip
her Dollar Tree Hand-woven Basket Stand is so clever!
For this month’s creative craft creation
I painted a wooden birdhouse
with welcoming bright colors and happy flowers

Come on, I’ll show you around!
I found this unfinished birdhouse at Hobby Lobby
The first step was spray painting it white
And then the fun began!
I didn’t really have a plan,
I just started painting, choosing colors as I went…
Aqua for the door and trim
and black and white checks along the roofs

Each roof got a different color

Simple checks, bushes and flowers are easy to add with the right brushes
A flat square brush is great for adding checks
A round brush for large dots
I used a small flat square brush to paint the flower pots
on the window sill
A small pointed brush and/or a fine liner brush
was used for stems and little flowers

Bushes were painted with a round brush and several shades of green
Flowering vines, shutters and bees!

Once it was all finished, it was time to play!

I added a few colorful bottle brush trees, a fence,
a mini mailbox, watering can
and a painted bicycle recycled from an old wreath

It’s going to be a while before I’m ready to share it with the birds…

Right now I’m enjoying it in the foyer filled with flowers

Doesn’t this sweet happy little house seem to say…
Welcome Home!

[…] I have been enjoying the flower filled Painted Birdhouse […]
Your birdhouse is just adorable and so colorful Jenna! I love the painted black and white checked trim, flowering vines, bees and flower pots! I love how you styled with blooms filling the openings on your Courtly Check pedestal too! ♥
Thanks so much Mary, I couldn’t help but add a touch of MKC 🙂
That’s adorable Jenna! I wonder if it were poly-sealed if it could be used outdoors to entice tenants? I love it!
That’s a good idea to varnish it before using outside, thanks Rita!
This is just too cool! And I love that mini bicycle…so cute!
Thank you Angie, I’m having fun playing with it!
Jenna, your painted birdhouse is darling! I love the different ways you styled it! Pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much Cecilia! I am having a lot of fun with it!
Your birdhouse is so sweet and adorable, Jenna! It’s really too cute for the birds, though – but perfect to use in any decor! I always look forward to seeing what MC designs you come up with and this one is truly a winner!
Thanks Gail, yes the MKC influence always seems to sneak in my creations 🙂 I doubt the birdhouse will make it outside, I am enjoying it too much inside!
Jenna, that is the cutest birdhouse ever! I just love the way you painted it. It reminds me of a scene from a fairy garden! It makes a great centerpiece. Happy Thursday!
Thanks so much Pam, I am having too much fun “playing” with it!
I just love your birdhouse, Jenna. The colors are beautiful and the bicycle and flowers just add the finishing touches!
Thanks so much Ann, it was a very fun project 🙂
Jenna, your little houses turned out so adorable. Love how you shared each step with us. Wish I had your painting skills. Happy Summer my friend.
Thanks so much Terrie! Yes, it seems summer has arrived in Alabama!
#1 WEIRD COMMENT OF THE DAY . . . If I lived here, my name would be “Flora-Chirp” – double first name, of course, and I’d drink honeysuckle tea and eat cookie crumbs on a plate made from an azalea petal. Ahhh. You’ve sparked my creative nerve with this. Thanks for the cute craft idea and inspiration!
Ha ha, Flora-Chirp is the perfect name, too cute Leslie Anne!
So cute, Jenna! I love the playful touches on the birdhouse itself and out in the yard.
thanks Linda, it was such fun to paint and play!
Loved your project; the black and white on the edges gave me a Mary Englebreit/ Debby Mumm vibe. The bright colors just scream spring! I don’t think the birds should get this one. It’d make a cute bunny house at Easter, too!
Thank you Kathy, I am a big fan of both Mary E and Debby M, plus MacKenzie-Childs, so black and white tends to show up a lot in my artwork and crafts. Cute idea to use it for bunnies at Easter!
I am in love with your birdhouse Jenna, it is darling! Love the different ways you styled it. Great tutorial for painting it as well. I’m sure when you transfer it outside there will be a bidding war over it. Happy weekend………
haha, aren’t you sweet! I doubt it will be going outside anytime soon, I’m enjoying it too much inside!
Jenna, I love the birdhouse you created! It is beautiful and looks like a cheerful place for the birds to live. I can see why you are not quite ready to share it with the birds. I love the way you have it styled in the entry, it looks so pretty! Happy Thursday!
Thanks so much Shannon! I am enjoying it as a centerpiece in the foyer, the birds will have to wait 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Love love your beautiful birdhouse, Jenna! What a fun project. 💜
Thank you Patty Anne, it was a lot of fun to paint and play with!
Oh Jenna, what a delight! It has been so long since I’ve painted a bird house — this one is a gem. What a wonderful centerpiece for a table with mini-bird houses as a take-away. Love the colors you chose, too. SO happy!
Thanks so much Jeanie, it was such a fun project! Your idea of a tablescape with mini houses as party favors is so cute, I just might have to do that!
Adorable and so very charming. It shows how much you enjoyed working on it. So glad you shared it on the link party.
Thanks so much Donna, it was such fun to paint and play with! Thanks so much for helping Sara hosting our hop!
It is A D O R A B L E! I love the bright colors and flowers! And the MKC trim is perfection! 😍
Happy Friday!
Thanks so much Nancy! AND it’s so nice to have you back 🙂 !
Thank you! 🙂
Absolutely wonderful! It’s so cute the way you made a yard around your birdhouse. The way you styled it with the flowers in the windows for your foyer looks awesome. Love the sunflowers painted on the side, but of course I would lol.
Thanks so much Allyson! It was a fun project and I am having a lot of fun “playing” with it! 🌻
You’re such a talented painter! This birdhouse is just adorable. I can understand why you’re not ready to share it with the birds yet. It makes cute decor, and I think when the birds move in, you’ll never be able to evict them!
XOXO,
Niki ~ Life as a LEO Wife
ha ha, thanks Niki, I don’t know if the birds will get a chance, I am enjoying it too much!
