Fearless Friday, Cherry Lemonade

It’s time for a cool drink,
how about a refreshing Cherry Lemonade?
Below is my inspiration photo,
the painting is by Lori Ellis and was painted with oil

A few strokes to place the lemons

Then the glass
Water is suggested with pale aqua shadows and lines
The straw is refracted at the water line
{things distort at the water line}

cherries

A cocktail spear
The next steps involve deepening the colors and adding details

Background and shadows
I used white gouache {opaque watercolor} to add additional highlights

A little splatter to finish
Cherry Lemonade 4″ x 6″ watercolor on 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper
Which one do you like better,
Squeeze of Lemon that we painted with acrylic several weeks ago
or today’s watercolor Cherry Lemonade?

If you ever paint from one of my tutorials,
please send me a photo so I can share it~
we all need to support and encourage each other!
Happy painting,
Be Fearless!

Thank you so much! I visited your website, your paintings are beautiful! I love the collage ones, incredible!
Thanks a million for such kind and generous words….means a lot to me!!
It’s cherry season now, so a big YES to a refreshing cherry lemonade. Beautiful painting!
Thank you Angie š
Love them both, Jenna! Today’s is light and bright,
Thank you Rita, have a lovely weekend!
Looks good enough to sip by the shore!
Thank you Dorothy, enjoy your Saturday!
Oh how lovely! Perfect for a summer kitchen!
Thanks Nancy, I hope you’re having a fun weekend!
I like them both in different ways. The dark BG on the one wouldn’t work for WC/ the other looks springy and fun. I’d say win-win!
Thank you Jeanie~I am always drawn to paintings with dark backgrounds, they really make the subject pop!
Well, now you’ve done it! For a week or so now I have been watching SONIC Drive-in Commercials. I hope they have these where you are, Bama. At any rate, the TV ads have made me yearn for fries, and onion rings, and CHERRY LEMONADE, Oh, My! So I can assure you that tomorrow I shall seek out one of these wonderful purveyors of calories and try to refrain from ordering one of everything. So, your wonderful art work just made me yearn all the more for such a visit. But, I shall certainly have that Cherry Lemonade.!
ššš You are too funny! Can you believe I have never been to Sonic?? I don’t know why, I drool over their commercials too! I hope you treat yourself to a Cherry Lemonade soon Georgia Gal, it will help keep you cool!
Jenna, I love them both. I could not possibly choose a favorite. Now, I am craving a cherry lemonade. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Pam, have a great weekend and stay cool!
I like them both! Such happy colors and paintings! š
Thanks Jill, I am the most comfortable with acrylic, it’s so much more forgiving than watercolor š
I think both are beautiful Jeanna! But, today I’ll order the cherry lemonade. It’s always fun seeing your talent at work……..
Thank you Emily, Happy weekend!
Perfect summertime picture!
Thank you Linda, cheers! š¹
Looks so refreshing Jenna! I do love your ‘signature splatter’ to finish your art. ā„
Thank you Mary, I do like to splatter š
I’m totally fascinated how simple you make it look to put that drawing together. It is beautiful and cherry lemonade sounds really good too.
Thanks so much Judee š¹
Looks delicious!
Thank you!
